Default Anyone running this Track Dog Radical NA splitter

I ran a few searches, but came up dry on this specific splitter. I emailed the guys over at Track Dog in Dallas to see what they had for front splitters for an NA that are functional for the track. They emailed me back and said they had a Radical splitter with two turnbuckles that was for the NA and not on the website yet. I'm honestly not sure if it is a brand new product, or something they have been selling for a while and just didn't have listed.

it protrudes 3-inches from the factory R splitter. I've been eyeing 949s supermiata wing, i thought this might pair with it well. What do you guys think. Pics attached are what Track Dog sent me.

Looks... flimsy

Any splitter you use on the track is gonna get beat to hell. After my last race, the entire underside of mine was covered in red and white paint... from the curbing

If your heart is set on something carbon, I'd at least look for one with some sort of core to it. If not, just get some plywood or alumalite and call it a day.

Make it yourself. From reading posts on here it seems like splitters are a consumable.

A splitter should be a lot lower to the ground than the bottom of the R-package lip if you want it to function well.

That also does not go under the car at all.

It is sold as a "lip protector"

Track Dog Racing Radical Splitter Review — revlimiter.net

Full review by revlimiter. It's not a splitter, just an appearance thing. Granted it looks great on his car, but not really a functional splitter.

^ Actually, it functions just fine. It's keeping the paint on my factory air dam, rather than scraped all over my parking structure.

It's just for protection. I have no allusions about it adding downforce. The splitter is only the depth of the lip and only fastens to the plastic. To be functional, it would need to extend a bit more forward and then all the way back to a solid attachment point. And, of course, be lower.

To answer an OP question, it is indeed a new product for TDR. They have a thread on CR about it. This is the first one I've ever bought off a shelf. In the past, I've just made my own out of ABS. But I liked the design and was given a nice price, so I went ahead and purchased. Hopefully it lasts a few months before self destructing.

it's not carbon, i think it's just ABS material. I'm not interested in protecting the factory spoiler, mine isn't painted. i was hoping it was functional. I take it that is your car revlimiter, looks good.

I have no fabrication skills and it would concern me to tack something I made onto the bottom of my car and then drive on a racetrack lol

Come on, no fabrication skills? All it takes is a drill and a jig saw to make a plywood splitter. Oh and 25 bucks at HDR. I suggest figuring out the mounting first and making a cardboard template then cutting the plywood based on the template. I wish I'd done my first one this way.

And dont forgot its an all or nothing with aero, if you add a splitter and no wing you wont be able to keep it straight and if you add a wing making significant downforce and no splitter it'll just refuse to turn. But at least with a wing you can set it at a stalled or low downforce position and be ok if the splitter doesnt get finished in time.

Look up mine, I used this one as a template, only wider.

Lower is better, but the bottom of the r-package lip is just fine. If you go much lower than that, you can expect it to scrape the ground under heavy cornering loads.

If you want real downforce, you won't be buying it off the shelf from anybody (including APR). Make it from wood, extend it back as far as your rulebook will allow you to, and make it cheap so you don't cry about it when it gets torn off on a curb.

And you can actually make less downforce going too low. The splitter not only creates a high pressure zone above the splitter but a lower pressure zone under it (and behind it). Too low to the ground and you prevent most of the air from passing under it and loose the low pressure effects. Also on that note, the further back the air dam is the higher the pressure will be on the splitter (and the more exposed splitter) but at a certain point the pressure will stop increasing because the high pressure pocket will just buffet off any additional air.

no rule book I only run for fun, this is a non-street legal track only car. I want the most benefit can get I want to pair it with your supermiata 200 wing. I've read through the diy aero thread, but its so full of OT its hard to find just splitters, which is what I am looking for.

So you trailer it. Good. Make the bumper quickly removable. I suggest taking the clips out of the side by the wheel well and adding your choice of quick release there, and then getting some sort of 1/4 or 3/8 drive electric ratchet/screwdriver/impact gun and having a 10mm with an extension on it for pulling the bolts under the hood, and just pulling the bumper with the splitter permanently attached to it in order to get onto the trailer. So it would be those bolts the clips and your two supports to the front of the splitter. And I would make the under tray a separate piece.

Uh, or you get a trailer where you just drive it on. Look at my picture about, the splitter is 3" above the ground and I can just drive onto my (tilting) trailer.

I think I will have plenty of clearance even with the splitter. I have a set of extra long race ramps i already use to get it on the trailer.

i am also wondering, it appears in the pics of spookyfish's car the splitter goes way back to the fire wall area. Wont that contribute to engine overheat or does enough air still escape that it's not a problem?
