I wonder what the break point would be for weight? I'm going to have a heavier 91 with interior bits and a passenger seat still in it. It even has A/C (lol). It looks like a complex algorithm they use to determine it. Was wondering if there was a quick and dirty understanding.
What tires where you running on your Grand Am Civics? I ran in a GA Cup race there back in '06 in a Focus, but couldn't remember my lap times.

For comparasion only, my supercharged 94 miata was recently based classed at TTC++ (each plus is 7 pts). I'm allowed 210hp and 2450lbs (as it comes off track with me in it). Yes, my car is pig heavy with full interior, ac and ps. My new base tire is 255. (I run 225 and get pts break)
Wing/spoiler/hoosier pts put me in the middle of TTB.
Even though I only have one event under my belt, It's pretty fun to run in TT. My only regret is not being able to run with the rest of the gang in hpde3/4 for the cool videos of us having a blast. Apparently, sometimes they combine us for a few sessions once in a while so all is not lost there...

I don't know if its me or what, but in both IE and Mozilla, that Classer page doesn't load.
Sixace, how do they limit you to a HP figure? I mean, is there a boost pressure they allow for your SC? Also, doesn't TTC++ mean you are in TBB. What is it - 10 pts puts you in the next class up?
Also, what tire are you running that's 255? You up to a 16 or 17" wheel?
Any of you guys gonna run Mid-O this year? Definitely gonna go...

you have to email greg greenbaum with your minimum comp. weight (the least you and your car together will weigh when on track) along with the horsepower you make when using a dynojet dyno. he will send you your classing info. he's the only person that can do it if you have added a turbo/supercharger or a motor swap. secret formula that only he knows. so even if that classifier worked, it wouldn't matter. you'd still have to email greg. btw: that classifier has never worked in the 4 years that i've run nasa events.
with that horsepower you'll likely start in ttb+ (7pts.) atleast. i was classed ttb+ with 238whp and 2570lbs comp. weight. i just got reclassed to ttc++ since i never run higher boost than 9psi (201whp) and have removed weight to 2405lbs. comp. weight. but after points for tires/susp. aero, i'm still in ttb.
oh, and nobody limits any horsepower. it's up to you to decide what class you wanna run and get classed accordingly. if there's ever a dispute you might be sent to the track's dyno if there is one and get checked. usually won't happen though unless your at nationals. also, the person that complains about you has to put and pay for the dyno run if your not over your claimed whp. if you are over, then you have to pay for the dyno and whatever punishment the stewards decide to give you. strip your season points, etc... what they will do randomly is make you go to the scales, which are at every event. so make sure your not under.

Gotcha. Makes sense - just read the rules in more detail. Do I give Greg a listing of my chassis/aero pts and request his classification once he knows what I've got? I'm gonna run low boost to start and give him numbers from the dyno.
What prevents people from just cranking up their boost during the race? Im guessing its just an honor system and gentlemen's agreement, but was curious to know...

Actually, you limit yourself on HP when you send in your dyno sheet, so that's where my limit is if I should be challenged (doubtfull except at Nats). Like I said TTC++ is my new "base" class. Then I start adding points for suspension/aero/tires etc. Mine added up to my current class of TTB.
When Greg sends you your new base class it includes a new base tire limit which for means 255. I chose to run 225's and get 3 pts back (-3)...
Nothing in place to stop the turbos from running switchable maps and more boost except honesty. At the Nats, I believe they may use gps to monitor hp, but they may have a dyno on hand as well. Regionally, it's the honor system. But you know what they say, cheaters never win lol.
The Nats return to Mid-Ohio next year and I may stop by to be a field filler...
It's really not that hard to join in the fun; get a dyno sheet and figure your weight is all you need to send Greg. "After" he sends your base class, you then calc up your mod points (aero/sups/tire) to get your true class and jump in. Lots of fun to be had. Enjoy

Sixace- You may want to look at the tire rulls again for the size you are running. Depending on what tire you are running you may be leaving points on the table.
jsutto13- Dude you have a ton of reading to do.
Have a great day,

I could make a few changes and get down to TTC but there's nobody to run with there and TTB is already kinda thin in our region. May end up bumping up to TTA to have a better field and chase the vettes hoping for 3rd at best lol.
jsutto13- +1 on read, read, read. After about the 5th time of reading the rules and classification form, and some help from spoolin2bars, it started to make sense to me...
