Well. I guess I shouldn't be so negative. I have passed a ZR1 on track before (dude needed help walking). Certainly driver talent makes a difference...probably only get you far locally though.

I would listen to GAMO on this and go for a CSP car. Or better yet, scrap the auto-X competitive-ness and run track events.

Umnm.. they were probably just as much out of their element as you were.

The issue here is as much quantity as anything else. STR has exploded in the Tarheel group. Last event I was at with them, there were 12 drivers I think, or about 1/8th of the total event! Most of them are solid drivers, even if they aren't top tier. If any one of them has a good day, then you'll have a tough battle.


On the flip side, one of their main lots is/was an airport course, so the NA/NB would be a bit better in that region.


Disclosure: I'm from the Triad area of NC, and many of my friends are in that STR class, even though I only run with them a couple times a year.
