Is an NA the same as an NB windscreen. A friend has a wrecked 98 NB with a good screen in it.

Anyone know if they are the same or different...

I have been asked to remove mine to get the rest of the cage installed and it would be nice to have no stone chips, filled cracks etc.....

Yes it's the same. No, you won't be able to remove it without breaking it. The professional windshield guy you should call may or may not be able to remove it without breaking it.

Whoah, really? damn. I was going to pull mine this winter when i paint the car and put a new seal in it. I've pulled the window on my 1973 triumph gt6 before and was able to put it back in using a string trick my dad showed me, so i guess i thought I could do the miata as well.

Guess i need to budget a new window?

I would. We've pulled the glass on a bunch of cars now (either for plastic windows or for cages) and I have yet to see one come out intact.

If you're pulling it for a cage, consider doing a lexan shield. Theseus and Rover both have a RacingShields .250" hard-coated Lexan shield. They don't scratch, the optics are just as good as glass, they are 11lbs less than stock glass (9lbs vs 20lbs), and they are significantly safer (big debris will bounce/gouge/imbed in the lexan, vs. shattering/puncturing the windshield).

Mine came out just fine when removed for my cage. A piece of wire to cut it out and used some pretty heavy duty suction cups to lift it. A one man job, it hasn't been reinstalled yet, its just laying in the car. I have since lifted it out and dropped it back in several times without it breaking and without the use of suction cups for cleaning, body work around window frame, installing cage, installing dash...etc.

Whats the cost on the Lexan? I need a new one, and at this point, I probably could have paid for the Lexan with as many glass pieces as Ive replaced.

FWIW, our local glass guy has an agreement that if he can get the windshield out without breaking it (to be reinstalled later), we only pay labor. Ive never seen one come out in one piece.

Would that lexan work well for a street car too? Lots of rocks and abrading sand here in Phoenix... windshields get messed up.

Define crazy. It's 3x the cost of factory glass, but it's cut to fit, hard-coated so it won't scratch when you look at it wrong (like all other lexan windows), and weighs half as much as the factory glass. That sounds like a bargain at ~$450.

I don't know how it would hold up to normal road use - I'm not sure I would risk it.
