Will 225 Hankook Ventus Z214 on 15x9 6ul fit my NA
As per thread title, wondering if anyone can confirm or not that this tyre will fit on my 89 Mx5 running 15x9 6UL wheels.
Other guys in my series on the Z214 205 say the tyre is significantly wider than other 205's and that the 225 might be the same.
Currently running 225 Nitto NT01's but the class has swung big time toward the Hankook Z214 semi slick and the braking and cornering improvement of these competing cars leaves thinking i need to get back on par......
I haven't run those tires in particular, but I was able to run 225 hoosiers on 9" 6UL's which are more like 245's with a flat roll of the fenders and some trimming of the inner liners. Guys are also clearing 245 maxis tires on 9's.....I can't imagine you'll have a problem.
Pardon the washed out pic, only way I could get the tires to photograph well enough to see how they fill the fender wells.

Anyone care to take a crack/guess at what time improvement we'll see over a set of 2 season old NT01's...? I'm hoping for 1.5 seconds...the Honda guys in class reckon they are worth 2 seconds to them.
Any reason you didn't go with the softs? Friend of mine runs them on his SM when we do 1hr enduro's. They are holding up a lot better than my SM7's are after heat cycling, he runs same times on SM7's as he does on his C71's for reference (after a few heat cycles each)
Im not sure if we get the same version of the compound but here the soft compound (c70 or maybe 71?) im told doesn't last very long at all, 1-3 meetings. The ultra competitive classes (Honda cup etc) will use a set a meeting.
But its a good question, if they can last a 7 meeting season I would be happy to use them.....I seem to be fairly easy on tires so will have to look in to that. Might be worth a gamble....though a SM might not be a good comparison to 250 whp.

The fellow that uses the C71's here also uses them on his 450whp Rx7 FC racecar (2350lbs) and claims they last as long as the C50 Medium compound while maintaining higher overall grip levels.
I don't know anyone that uses the Nitto's on racecars here, I used one set of 225 NT01's and I definitely prefer my SM7's too those.

how much quicker are the SM7's than Nitto's? which track?
I torched a set of C71s years ago on Theseus in ~8 sessions. The dropoff was cliff-esque - 4 second drop from session to session. No A-B testing, but my guess is that Hoosiers last longer and grip better.
