Default door bar tubing

I'm about to get some door bars fabricated and welded on to my Harddog hardcore roll bar. My question is what type of tubing should I use.

The hard dog is 1.75" diam x .120" wall 1026 .

But from looking at the internet, I see that a lot of people use 1.5"x.12 tubing for the door bars, and the local fab shop suggested that too. What size should I order ? 1.5" or 1.75? Should it be 1026 DOM, or does it matter?

Thanks guys.

The miatacage.com uses 1.5x.095 DOM. Just for reference.

Should definitely use DOM. Use 1.75 if it will fit with your seats, 1.5 if you need the extra clearance. The different sizes fitting will depend on the door bar design.

If the place you're getting the bars put in dosen't know to use DOM, I would be wary of hiring them to install any cage parts on your car.

Harddog's front cage sections uses 1.5"x.135" wall. If you use 1.5", I suggest you beef up the wall thickness
