Thumbs up Miata 1996 M edition Swap

Hello guys,

I have a miata m edition 1996, but i have the curiosity to swap only the engine forward to a early year... like 2006 maybe. Now i need to know if my transmission will fit on the 06 engine... i take care of mounts and the cables.

Any comment would help

Thanks.

Before you get gangraped and **** on, I highly suggest making an intro thread, then reading for about a month or two, because not only has this exact topic been discussed, but you seem to know less than nothing about these cars, therefore this would be the most pointless thread in existence even if it didn't turn into a troll fest, which it is 150% sure to turn into.

This is on par with " Hai guyths, looking to swap in a cummins turbodiesel and convert to AWD, whaddayathink? "

I'm not being mean, just realistic.
Good luck.

2006-2010 engine will drop right in and all your existing connectors will work. transmission bolts on.

Yeah, pretty easy swap - that's why you see MZR swapped cars all over this forum.

Yep the most common ones are MZR L3 (L3-VE, L3-DE) or the MZR-CD. Both are easy to find, both are turbocharged. The CD has more low end since it was originally a truck engine.

You can also fit a 99-00 miata head on the MZR blocks. If actually flows better than the MZR heads!

I hear you can cut an LSx in half and have a slammin 2.85L 4 banger.
And the best part: it drops right in.

It is possible to cut a crank at a journal and run less cylinders. That's what they do in Cuba.

No turbo no care. Get the 2.3 MZR that's what you want. Direct injection plug and play
