Anyone here running this tire? What's the consensus? Seems like a lot of top time attack teams are running this tire or the c71 compound. I'm looking for a good universal tire, something that can be used for track days, hill climbs and a bit of autoX. If I loose a second here or tree it's not a big deal just yet. Next year I may go to a more competitive tire but funds a limited and I want something that will last and be sticky enough for me.

NT01s are out because I am running 13's.

Right now its between the 215/50/13 V710 or the 225/45/13 ventus. The v710's are said to be pretty similar in width to n average 225. The tread width is 9' on the v710.

I think sav ran those last year. Also I know Billy Johnson runs them on alot of his cars we ran three compounds at the 25hours of thunder hill, 51's dry, 71's grooved, and the 91's grooved at night in the rain. When I changed the 91's in the middle of the night they where steaming like crazy.

So the 51's heat up pretty quick? A few laps? I think the 71's are too soft for my needs and will burn through them pretty quick. Thanks for the info.

The 51s are slower, may not heat cycle out quite as quickly, but they will tolerate heat better than the 71s.

I used the 71s for about 3 events - they last 10-12 heat cycles and on the 13th cycle they are absolutely undriveable - totally cycled out. Good tire, just too expensive for what they are/how fast they are.

yeah, that's what I'm thinking too. The 51's are only $127/ea for the size I would get so I think I'll try them out and see how it goes. If I hate them I'll pick up some 225 R6's.

I'd spend the same money and get a set of NT-01s. Costs the same but they'll last 2x as long.

I've seen the v710s hold up really well in a lot of autox cars that are notoriously known to cord tires(mazda3). Not that far off the pace of a A6 either, 0.5 - 1.5 seconds on a 50-60 second autox course.

<---running C71s.
They are very sticky/fast and have been excellent for my autoX needs. I have not done any track events, but assume that the C51 compound will be much better suited.
