I miss the headlights on my NA for late night/early morning pad bedding and testing. I'm not willing to hack the barn door lights back in. I'm looking for a solution for the NA that is:

- cheap
- reasonably effective and won't blind other drivers
- easily reversible to remove extra weight

The best solution for the track is probably a LED light bar like what 949 has, but that's out of the budget and would probably need to be mounted to the hood or front bumper to be effective. I was thinking of hacking up the ebay depo turn signals to fit something. My fabrication skills are lacking so I'm afraid that's going to fail. Didn't some company used to make a bolt in part? Any ideas?

I'm going to gut my barn doors to make room for intake piping and put some rectangular hella's in the turn signals. Shouldn't be too difficult to fab up, will save weight and should work in a pinch for late night 'tuning'.

Ya, after searching around for something that bolts in I saw the hella ff50s. I think those should work as long as they don't blind oncoming traffic. Most of where I'm going has street lights and I just need something to light up the road directly ahead.

Any LED setup will blind the **** out of oncoming traffic.

If you want something tiny that provides decent light, blazer projector fogs with HIDs in them.

Spoolin2bars made mounts that put fog lights in the front running light wholes. He uses them to drive home from the track on occasion, they wingnut on.

I put some hella ff50 driving lights pretty far back in the turn signal holes. $100 from Amazon. Probably can get them cheaper than that. I haven't had a chance to try it outside yet, but they look like they'll work for late night/early morning testing without blinding people. The light gets reflected everywhere in the housing. I wouldn't mount these any further forward without building something to cutoff the glare.

I have these 60mm projectors shining through where the giant turn signals are normally located. There is enough room for two lamps on each side, one low beam and one high beam, which is what I have. The lights are mounted to the front part of the sheet metal on a custom bracket, which means the front bumper has to come off to completely remove the lights. That said, the lamps are adjustable and serviceable all from the under the hood - no problems changing out bulbs, adjusting the height, etc.

This allowed complete removal of all the stock headlight junk and the stock headlight lids (heavy). Formed aluminum headlight lids permanently attached to the hood = win.

DOT quality light output and cut-off.

Here are a few pics of my set up. All in it's 17 lbs lighter than the NA headlight assembly and works better than the stock lights. It's a projector made for a Bi Xenon light which has been ever so slightly modified to accept a H1 Halogen blub. The entire set up was less than $250 if I remember correctly.

i am vvt swapping a 94 and using the nb wiring harness so i am doing away with the barn doors also. Im very interested in this. any information on the bi xenon projectors you used?

I'm thinking of running something like this, only difference is I plan to paint most of it except the portion that light will shine through. Did you form your own plexiglass for this or is it something you bought?

I cut it and formed it. The lenses are Lexan not plexiglass. The only part of the set up I didn't build is the projector housings themselves.

Cool. Lexan can be a pain so I thought it might be plexiglass. I tried vacuum forming lexan lenses once and it didn't turn out well.

I would say Mini h1, e55, or if you want to spend a bit more money rx350 bi are great but cost a lot. Get a 50w ballast and have great output.
