This guy posted a huge thread on clubroadster a long time ago about making seats. I posted that he needed to copy the Elise Probax seats as they are comfy, have great support, fit big guys, sit on the floor, and look great. He then proceeded to copy the Elise seat style then posted prices that were the above. He is way above the value of the seats IMO, he has priced them out of range of 99% of us miata guys that need a seat like this. I dont know if this is the same company but it sure looks like it. Most Elise seats I see go for 900-1200 a pair.

Arizen's target market for that seat is the Corvette owner. He didn't design it assuming many Miata owners would buy it.

Nope he made these Elise copies for the miata crowd. The company making the Elise/Exige seats if anyone is interested.

Seat thread from Arizen.

They are not interested in selling the shell by itself but will custom upholster seats to order. They started making a pattern for the cover and sent me these pictures. The cover has some lumps in it because they only lightly glued it down in a few areas so they can remove it again. This cover is on my shell and they need to use my shell to make a mold. They used some carbon fiber areas and did the diamond insert pattern but that can be changed. The inserts will be offered without the diamonds as well.

With covers in vinyl or vinyl/cloth, each seat would be $699. In leather or leather/suede - $899. That's $100 more than the prices with seats being made overseas but there would be no need for minimum orders and cover styles, colors, materials, etc. could be varied. This does not include mounting hardware and we have not started working on any yet.

I realize these may be more expensive than some people can afford but there is no need for people to post they are looking for cheaper seats. There are plenty of them out there and we hope you the best. Those who realize how hard to come by and expensive the Exige seat is and like the idea of having upholstery options will know who to contact .

And it has just as little side bolstering everywhere as the seats it is copying. Now I'm thinking a memoryfab S68 might fit the bill.

Not for a car that sees heavy track time, but he probably wants them for his daily. I've been thinking about Lotus seats for my daily, but didn't pay much attention to them when I have driven Lotus' and have heard of a couple people complaining that they aren't very comfortable. I'm guessing they are the wine and cheesers though.

Correct. Some say they are ultra comfy, some don't. I want to get my head down so I can get a roll bar in there on the daily. I'd put a NASCAR throne in my track car if it would fit.

those Lotus seats just look like park benches to me. I daresay I'd rather have my Z06 seats, which are already terrible.

Are those still available new? I got a ride in a NA a couple years ago that was sporting these and they are great seats. Haven't seen them around anywhere though.

Seats and brackets are available but on a made-to-order basis; seat delivery is approximately 3 months. I don't know that I should post quoted prices so I'll just say that, hypothetically, if one were going to budget for a seat plus a bracket, one should estimate about 750 total. Plus shipping etc.

A couple of things for this thread.

The Marrad seats do have a slot for the sub belt, you can't see it in the pictures, but there is a spot.

Certs- well, I doubt that anyone that really "needs" certs is buying a dual purpose seat. If you run in a series that requires certs, doubtful that you are running a seat on sliders with padding and cloth.

I know lots of people love the Elise seats, but for me, they SUCKED. I mounted them to the flipside brackets- no real lowering of the seat and I literally could just barely get out of the car. My right leg was pinned between the wheel and the seat each time I tried to get out. Additionally, I could not move the seat back far enough for my legs- heel toe was just a fantasy.

I've heard this review based on the flipside brackets multiple times. I've got elise seats with brackets based on revlimiter's design and they are absolutely fabulous. I'm 5'10" and couldn't handle driving with the seat any lower. I've also got a momo hub, nrg 2.5 QR and 360 mm wheel and don't have any clearance issues with my knees. Maybe it's just because I'm average height, but I am extremely happy with this setup. Now I just want to replace the elise seats with an exige set and I'll be done. None of this helps with getting out of the car, but that's just the hazard of driving a low roadster with a low seat.

Yes, I think that is likely a large part of it. I am 6'2 with a 34" inseam, and I could have made things better with a wheel, but the elise seats were too short and didn't have enough thigh bolster for me either.

I have a Marrad seat coming this Thursday, I will try to get some before and after pictures from a foamectomy to the Marrad.

As I am 6'2 34" inseam as well, your comparisons are of interest to me.

I've sat in a Recaro SPG, and it's super nice and comfortable, but won't have sliders and will need a bracket solution. Possibly some massaging as well. I have fundage, just waiting on the right solution to pull the trigger.
