Looks like we'll have the mounts for just under $100. We'll do it as a group buy, and they should be available for both NA and NB - there's a difference in the angle of the trunk lip. I'm just getting a set of prototypes made so we can check the CAD model.

FYI, I'm heading to California for the Thunderhill race. So I probably won't be available until next week.

those mounts look like a nice piece, think I will hop on this group buy so I have a nice set of mounts when I get to start doing some aero work on my car

Sounds good...I'll probably order a set of each...just in case. I'm a bit indecisive at times.

I'm working with Moti at Blackbird Fabworx right now on COT wing mounts that should be optimized in several areas.
Prototype should be done soon, I'll take some pics of it as soon as it is. I'll see if Moti is interested in producing a limited run of them..

Is there a significant enough variance between the NB and NA trunk opening to not allow this to be used on both and NA and NB?

Keith: Maybe I missed it, but what wing will work with those mounts? Thats the COT wing only right?

Yes, the angle of the vertical lip where this bracket mounts is different.

I doubt the mounts would fit any other wing. But anything is possible.

Spoke with Moti, he's been collaborating with me on the design of my uprights that I'm making - so they aren't one of his parts - he says he's not planning to produce uprights for the COT wing (plus Keith is already planning to offer some), but what he is interested in making are Blackbird Fabworx endplates for this wing - proper dimensions, lightweight, plus some really cool features, so Keith and others who have this wing, a bolt-on optimized endplate for this wing may be available down the road. We can do back to back testing at one of the Miata Challenge events between such an endplate and the normal COT endplate. There is tons of improvement to be had with a better design.

The whole thread is solely focused on the COT wing... so yeah, Keith's mounts are for the COT wing...

The mounts would work for any wing that has dimensions between the mounts exactly the same as the COT, and wing mounts with exactly the same layout as the COT. That probably means only this wing.

This is exciting, great to see more of us getting their hands on this wing to increase the amount of R&D going into its use on the miata.

Was a little dissapointed it didn't have the carbon gurney flap.
Guess ill have to go buy some angle aluminum.
Guy did a hell of a job packing though.
Mine has a carbon wickerbill on one of the end plates.
Mine came in yesterday. CF endplates with aerofoil. 1 was missing a screw. midget AL gurney flap on main wing which easily slides out. I have 1 large CF gurney flap on one endplate but not the other end plate. Packing was good though it was wrapped in building plans for a local school? Made by crawford composites The Official Website of Crawford & Crawford Composites - Coming Soon .

Generally happy with everything and super happy given the price and level of effort involved (hooray for Keith with mounts making life easier).

Also, this auction is a bit funny because it clearly tells you the wing is for show only not race or practice use (read, don't buy this) NASCAR Carbon Fiber Wing w End Mounts Cot Wing Spoiler Blk Crawford Composites | eBay

Setup wing is fine...you do not want a "show" wing which was used for display/promo cars

Finished my endplates and uprights over the last couple days. Tomorrow they go to a shop to get bent (there's no way I'm doing precise bends in that thickness), then final fit this next week, then getting the uprights anodized. So still a little bit before they are complete, but so far very happy with how they've turned out.

Keith, I'm curious - does the trunk lid need trimmed to use your mounts?

And I'm assuming no one is mounting these directly to the trunk lid because it doesn't provide adequate support? Is this because you all have lightened your trunk by removing the skeleton? Would a normal, skeletal, trunk lid provide enough support?

It doesnt mount to the trunk, it mounts to the frame. So you open the trunk without moving the wing. There is ~1/4" gap on both sides of the trunk for the rain gutter. So if the support is 1/4" then it'll scrape the trunk but if its smaller it will be ok. I wish I knew about/thought of this mounting point before I made my wing so I could have had straight supports, now Mine are going to have to kink in like 2 inches.

Where do yours mount?

I was thinking of cutting a slot in the bumper and attaching tall uprights where the tow hooks bolt on - similar to a "crusher" mounting. Have to crawl under there and measure/see what it looks like...
