Going turbo, I need an oil source for my turbocharger...

Which means sandwich plate. And while I'm doing it, why not a place for an oil temp sender? And an oil pressure sender? And an oil cooler?

This is primarily a street car, so I'm thinking a thermostat might be good for it, or is that not really an issue?

Anyone have a model to recommend? I've found FM's ($$$$), glowshift (unknown), and ebay (even more unknown).

DO NOT get this ebay type... reason is the filter o-ring will not make a complete seal... see pic. Not sure the difference between the 1.6 and 1.8 plates. I used it, but had to use a larger filter with an outer groove to sandwich in a larger o-ring... yeah, my filter has 2 o-rings You have a VVT in your sig, sounds 1.8 to me...

Thank you very much for that! I'd actually emailed /that seller/ earlier today about what temp the thermostat on that sandwich opened...

And thanks for your build thread. I actually read that earlier tonight and watching the Sun1 video got me motivated to do more work on my car.

Assuming you already have the OEM 1.8 oil cooler, you don't need an external oil cooler, thus you don't need a fancy thermostat plate. You need this:

You can remove one of the 1/8 NPT plugs on the head and use that for your oil feed. Much easier.

Don't need an external oil cooler? I'm pretty sure Sav and Hustler might disagree with that.

What plugs are those? I thought those were only on early engines.

I won't be tracking my car except for casual funsies and I really just need a plate for my oil pressure and temp sensors.

I've heard good things about it, talked to Abe about it as well. He says sometimes they're not finished entirely and have some burrs, but overall I've heard they're solid.

So I was thinking about this. The thermostat plate would kill flow to the turbo, which would be a /very bad thing./ So for right now I think I should get that glowshift plate, use the turbo feed line, oil temp and pressure... and then is it ok to put another plate on top of that plate for the oil cooler?

It's a piece of metal with some holes drilled in it. The number of ways in which you can **** that up are pretty limited.
