Not sure if anyones interested but here is an in car and the following car in cars.

I find it interesting to watch the car suspension behaviour and the rear wheel drive versus front wheel drive lines and differences...

Thoughts, comments and suggestions welcome.

The 2nd in car video at about 6 mins is when he catches up and we dice for a few laps. He had someone on his rear the whole time too.

A couple of issues held me back... but overall the new disco potato turbo, microsquirt ecu and replacement low K 6 speed exceeded all expectations

-couldn't rev past 7k, ecu shuts down for a few seconds (this and a fluffed gear change is how he caught me in the first place), we think the new 36 tooth wheel crank angle system might need filtering on the ecu cutout issue....

- running waste gate 10psi boost on new motor and ECU install about 200hp at the wheels. I do flick the 15 psi controller on for the last straight which is dyno'd at 250hp at the wheels.

Its an Aim Evo4 data logger and Dash. Sadly with all the engine issues we have had the past 18 months I haven't had a chance to really delve in to the data logging side.

Though the dash has been great with canbus from megasquirt giving tps, ign adv, boost, water, IAT, knock etc....all alarm configurable.

Holy ****. I didn't even know there was club racing organizations that would allow you to run wheel to wheel without a head and neck restraint, no gloves, no window/center nets, no balaclava etc etc

Are all the people you race with also this poorly equipped in the safety department?

Different Country different rules. Plus this is club level racing.

Though nets are rare here and in Aussie, certainly rare are those centre ones you guys run.

Neck brace will be forthcoming, everytime I get set to buy one I have had no working car to use it with and an engine replacement required....

Maybe this Xmas.

How did you go about mounting it?
I recently purchased one of the new Link dash's and i'm trying to figure out a way to mount it in a similar position to yours.

Hopefully I get the car back from the panelbeater mid next week. I'll take a photo of the bracket I made up. Its not pro quality but it works well.

Food for thought, when faced with that decision i simply chose to not spend the time on track until I had the money to do it properly. There is always a way to rationalize car, event registration, consumable and go fast parts over safety equipment. Which is totally fine until you or some one you know gets hurt or killed.

I mention this because that is what is happening in southern california right now. Spending on safety equipment is up after a recent death in a car much more prepared for the inevitable then yours.

The fact that your car has a new fresh engine isn't going to matter to your loved ones when the parts get read off in your will. I say this out of respect and not judgement... I've enjoyed your presence on the forums and if being a dick to you about this keeps you alive, well then I'm your huckleberry.

I appreciate the concern over my safety, I really do. Needless to say some aspects are under consideration.

One of the interesting things about the international nature of forums is that expectations and environment are so different between countries and show up with quite different perspectives....However, I think its been covered off now so can we leave the safety aspect aside now?

One of the things I feel could do with some work is my gear change speed. Does this look slow to you guys, am I being to mechanically sympathetic or is it just the nature of the 6 speed we use?

It just takes some time to learn to shift with the left hand.

I only have a problem with 5-4 (just two race weekends with that box), all others are fast and smooth. AmsOil might make a difference. Mine is smoother than others.

5 speed might be faster but not by much.

I don't normally but each race this time I messed up the 5th to 4th down change as well.

This is a newly installed sub 80 000 km gearbox and is a lot better than the other one I was using. Also unlike my other one, 2-3 and 3-2 is like butter.

When I first saw that vid, I thought your hand movements were a bit casual, from the time your hand left the wheel to returning. So I would say if you can speed it up, especially reduce the time of the change itself, that would be good. But, safety first, if that means missing a gear, it is not worth it for a bent engine.

I have a long, angled 'short' shifter from Miataroadster for my 6speed, and I find that helps. YMMV.

I think I am subscribed to your channel. Watched both these videos the other day. That CRX was moving out in the first video. I wish we had racing that was accessible like this in America. I think people here are overly cautious at times and I am sure most tracks require as much safety as they do for insurance purposes. I honestly believe that if you are willing to trust your own life with it who am I to say you are wrong. Look forward to more of your videos.
