Default Where's the best deals on driver gear?

Picked up a driving spot in a Chumpcar race. My first wheel to wheel racing. Done a lot of hpde and open track days but not wheel to wheel. I've already got a 2 layer suit and SA2005 helmet but have to pick up some proper shoes, gloves, socks & baclava.

Anyone seen some hot closeout deals on the gear I need recently? Likely places to look besides saferacer? Race is in two weeks so I've gotta get moving. Huge thanks for any help!

My local race shop (if 1 1/2 hr away is local) racingplus.com is pretty cool. Online prices seem average, but when I've talked to Jared, the owner, (1 800-700-2350) he was really accommodating. I told him my budget and he would find me the best setup for my $$.

Just an option.

OG Racing is local to me and they have some closeout stuff on their web site. Free shipping on $100+ orders.

Congrats on getting some seat time in Chumpcar! It's a ******* blast...probably the most fun I've had in one weekend in my entire life. What kind of car is it that you'll be driving?

I picked up all my gear off eBay. I made sure the sellers were legit, and that the products I was buying were SFI certified by checking against the list of approved manufacturers on the SFI website. IIRC I picked up all the items (except shoes) from the original manufacturers' own eBay stores. I got gloves for $20, shoes for $35, nomex socks for $8, and a nomex balaclava for $20, all of which were SFI approved and current. Don't forget a neck brace/donut, unless your car has a HANS device.

I've also purchased from Apex Performance a couple of times and they've been very helpful. www.apexperformance.net

Have fun! Post some pics!

I get a fair amount of my stuff from saferacer.com and a local shop called Smileys race shop.

Looking forward to the racing. Having done 15-20 hpde, wheel to wheel is the next natural step. This should be a great introduction.

Thanks for the places to shop. I'll be banging away at the net today looking for the hot deals.

If you are a NASA member you should get a discount with OG Racing. You will have to call them to confirm. I know they sponsor NASA and I know I get a discount being an instructor wig NASA. Worth a shot.

Have a great day,
Jared

Looks like they've got a nice deal on some gloves. If my offer on some on ebay fall through I'll likely buy them. Thanks!

I just got a pair of $200 OMP shoes off apexperformance.net for $75, they have some good stuff.

Also, TeamDI was doing a closeout on gloves, not sure if they are anymore.

Thanks for all the referrals!

I bought some Bell SFI high top shoes for $35 shipped from Pyrotect closeouts. Bought an SA2005 G-force pro Eliminator helmet for $154 shipped. Didn't absolutely have to have the helmet but my old one is SA-2000. This is the last year it was good. Bought some G-force gloves off Ebay for $34 shipped.

Seemed like pretty good deals considering I didn't have time to wait for really hot deals. Hopefully it all fits OK.

www.speedwaremotorsports.com has alot.

Call there during the day and ask for Kelly. I'll make sure you get hooked up.
There is always a ton of stuff on closeout.

Don't forget the Balaclava. The baclava however isn't necessary to compete. You can eat whatever you want. Lol
