Default for those looking for cameras, gpd data loggers, lap times, and have an iphone...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi guys-

Many of you know I've been working on a little project with Curtis Chen, a fellow socal track day guy. We have produced a prototype case that protects your iphone and allows you to mount it on your car to take video. We have launched a page on kickstarter, a website that helps fund raise for small projects. On the site you will see a video with some in car footage as well as details around how to get one.

Ultimately, if you have an iphone, we can get you on track for $50 or $100 bucks.

Admins - if this is not appropriate, please let me know.

Wish us luck! and I would take it as a huge favor if you would post this link other places as well.

Thanks,
Matt

Normally, the thread in a camera body is 1/4-20 and for a tripod head to tripod legs, 3/8-16. So the 3/4" you quote might need an edit?

you are a smart man sir. I always thought the go-pro idea was smart. This is awesome too! Just make it sturdy enough so that we can use G logging

good catch sjmarcy. I didn't write the text, I've forwarded the suggestion. thank you.

As for those of you into free stuff, we've started a little competition on facebook. Friend our fan site and the kickstarter link. And 5 people with the most "likes" at the end of the month get free cases.

cool! thanks. the kickstarter campaign is a little slow going. but we've had some really exciting conversations with some potential whole sale distributors and dealers.

Cool idea. I know you are only making the case, but have you tried to reach out to partner with some of the Track Analysis apps on the market? Perhaps they can help with the tooling costs?

I'm also wondering if you have any example video of using the iphone or suggested software? Also curious how to insert/remove it from the case so you can start and stop the datalogging video.

very interesting!

for those of us not in the know.... what apps are there out there for the lap timing and accelerometer features?

would there be an app update to allow us to start the datalogging and the video at the same time with 1 button (just to keep the datalog timing and the video consistant and simple to read)

we have not talked to the data log software providers. we will eventually, but we are a little busy right now trying to launch the case. The video in the kickstarter link shows breifly the use of one of the data loggers as well as how the device is put into the case. have you watched the video?

Ok, question. If I pledge the $107 for case, suction cup mount, and shipping, what happens in 29 days if the $20,000 isn't raised?

Very interested. I didn't read and look at everything, but is there a place that people can see what devices work with the case? Or is the 4 the only iphone that takes video. I forget if I got video when I updated my OS or when I upgraded to the 4.

good question. sounds like we need to post that more clearly on the kickstarter site.

Kickstarter is a clearing house. If we don't reach the minimum funding level, zero dollars exchange hands. We get nothing from you, and you loose nothing. Basically your "order" is cancelled. We are committed to making this happen, and I believe we are going to be featured on engaget shortly. if/when that happens, the audience they touch will likely help us make our funding minimum with no problems.

Just looked at kickstarter again, hopefully your other avenues are working out better. This is a good product, hopefully it will make it to market.

To the guys asking about apps. I've been playing around with Harry's Lap Timer on my I phone. It looks to be the same one they use on their video. Once you set it up it starts recording data and video when you cross the start/finish line. So you can set it up. Place in case, and take off.
