I ended up missing out on that diesel E-250 due to being out of town for work. The picking have been slim for other diesel vans so I decided to just suffer with a gas van for the time being.

I picked up this 96 E-350 for $750 cash. It has a 5.8L V8 with 190k on it. It should work well as a tow vehicle for the next few years until I find the proper diesel rape van.

That van looks rape-able enough. Good job!

I am going to start a **** site out of it called bondage van dot com and only film to and from the track. That way I should be able to write off the gas mileage on my taxes.

Here is a great tow vehicle. 2001 GMC 2500XL Yukon.
While not the best on MPG it is a rust free California truck with a great drive train. Floater axles, 6.0 LS motor and 4LE80-E trans. Great deal for $5k

Seriously. These things ride nice.

An ex had a little 1500 Yukon that hauled the Uhaul trailer with an F-body (swap victim) around southern Ohio without an issue.

Crap, wish I'd seen that a month ago... though for a DD, the 6.0 would suck gas like crazy.

Meh, with long tubes, an intake and a tune I bet you could get 20 on the highway and 15ish in the city.

I forgot that I had found Track's theme song. It's weird, every single time he walks through a door this starts playing.

Wow ... I am oddly drawn to this tune. All it needs a a stealth A-team van shot. Other than that it's perfect.

I think I'm finally about to pick something up.

2007 4Runner, V8, 4x4, Limited, 73k miles. Should finish up the paperwork tomorrow, then fly down Friday morning and spend most of the day driving it home.

From what I've seen available all over the country the last 3-4 months, I don't feel too bad about that price. Of course, I'll feel worse if I decide against, and have to take a cab back to the Austin airport and fly home.

I just bought a 2006 1500 Suburban with 100K miles for $5000. It has the 5.3L V8 and factory towing package. The interior is dirty/nasty, but the mechanicals are great.

Just bought a 2014 ram with the v6 and towing package as a daily. I don't plan to tow in the near futur, so even if fuel economy is not as good as the v8 while towing, i think the savings done everyday should more than compensate.
Plus, the v6 really has some punch with the 8 speed tranny!

Nice Ben, now you can sawzall everything and be ready for DP :-). We we're looking for one too (crew cab with the kids and their NASA seats) and tried it last summer and we didn't like the V6 in Bromont's territory. On highway 10, it wasn't able to keep 120km/h without kicking down and it was empty ! Sure thing is, man there'S room to work under the hood.

We were waiting for V8 Hemi 5.7L AND 8 speeds and it never came to try it. So we're looking for a C class motorhome, perfect for track day and have fun with the kids on weekends.

Any of you guys are using motorhome to tow your car ?

Tuned my 6.0 Ford's ECM, TCM, and FICM last week. I'm now in the 800+ ft lbs club. Was also able to increase shift firmness, use VGT as jake brake under decel, and keep the torque converter locked under more conditions. Acceleration and throttle resonse are so much better now, and my real time MPG display is showing a 3 mpg increase. I can't wait to tow something.

If you have a 6.0, GET A TUNE. The difference is amazing.
