Unfortunately, Flickr doesn't work here at work for me, but I think I know what you are talking about as far as the bumper extenders. It is a similar concept to what is used in Nascar to get an additional area of downforce over the front splitter and also force air into the opening for the radiator in their case. I was planning to do something similiar, but if it were prebuilt into the bumper that would be optimal for integrity and sealing. Glad you joined the conversation.

here is an attached photo instead. This has a shot of most of the ideas in kinda mad max form. I'd like to refine them and make them more integrated, not bolt on.

oh - I'd also be interested in helping make some fenders that would help with aero and cooling as well. getting air out of the wheel wells would probably help cooling more than hood vents would.

and here are some shots of the wheel spats I was talking about. AAA speedway was actually a cool track to test aero on because of all the grit in the air. It destroyed paint. I had a fresh spray on the whole front end of my car, and the white pock marks really show where air got trapped. The wheel spat that is white now was 100% black saturday morning. if you know how aero works, you can then see where the places that downforce is being created. A huge percent of the air that hit the frontal area got pushed around the side and hit that area. The winglets on the edge of the splitter were very effective when combined with the wheel spats.

Ah ha... I see what you did there. I am still trying to figure out a way to setup cooling via the fenders myself without paying HUGE sums of money for the ones I sent you in a previous email. Like the idea of the spats too... And yes, that is a lot of paint removed in one event. o.O

all I need is a set of stock fenders that I can use to mock up the design. I'm not cutting my carbon ones, but if anyone knows a set I can get near dallas for reasonable money, let me know.

But yeah Robert, if you want to design something that will perform well on the track I would honestly consider working with Matt on the design of the bumper. They have more work and resources put into that one aspect than I have into my entire build...

I would love to work with as many expirienced people as possible to get this to somethign that could benefit the most with the least compromises.

Matt: You seem to have some well thought out designs and would be more than happy to work with you on incorporating those. Your expirience with areo on the track would be useful in making this bumper.

I am goign to be open and say that I know little about aero in general, so any help from people who do understand it and have worked with it, has been and will continue to be, helpful.

there are plenty of people here who know what they are talking about. Most probably just haven't tried to build it. Happy to help.

If there is a splitter designed that is more complex than a piece of wood, would people want it?

My guess would be a slightly raised center section on the splitter to further accelerate the air moving under the car.

Yup since your forcing the air to follow the splitter/diffuser it needs the vains to keep the air on the splitter and not pushing out the sides...right?
