I was under the impression that no compressed gas = good to ship ground. I'll give Fedex a call in the morning and see what the deal is.

You can't ship an airbag.

I just called my local UPS store, and they said as long as it's packed well in a box from one individual to another (no businesses) and shipped via ground there's no problem. *shrug* Didn't quote me extra on hazmat or anything.

Fedex told me I'd need to be hazmat certified with federal certification and would have to submit destructive testing of the unit for it to be approved for shipping, even as an individual.

Looks like the packaging is an anti-static bag, a heavy box available from UPS, vermiculite, and bubble wrap. I have everything but the heavy box.

Apparently, auto recyclers rejected the extraneous shipping laws for "recycled" air bags, and got them approved as an ORM-D shipment. According to the NHSTA, "Recycled airbags are salvaged nondeployed airbags removed from damaged or old vehicles." Which means I can ship them. Apparently Fedex is assuming that I'm re/manufacturing airbags and trying to sell them.

I don't need the bag, just the wheel. Already have a bag here, but the wheel disintegrated.

Don't believe everything you hear. You can get on Ebay at any moment and buy an airbag.

Wheel sold to TorqueZombie.

Just figured out I have 200# burstproof boxes available at work. So I have everything needed to ship an airbag.

The clockspring is under my hub adapter, making my horn still work, so it's not available. Thanks for the interest!
