I need some advice.
There is a local guy near me that had his Miata rear ended and consequently totaled. He is selling the motor 1.8 with 130K. The motor runs strong and only uses a very small amount of oil. He has installed and is running a Jackson racing m45 kit with the smaller pulley from br racing and RSpeed (in Atlanta) old air fuel meter and the bipes acu timing controller. The supercharger has 5k on it
His car is a 93 or older so he did a 1.6 to 1.8 swap somewhere down the line. A concern is that he had to do something during his conversion from a 1.6 to the 1.8 that would make the swap to my car (it's a 97) more difficult.
Also in the state of GA we have emission inspections. I have been told with the supercharger it will be difficult to pass. Is this true?
What do you guys think of the set up and do you anticipate any problems?
He is selling separately a jackson racing water to air intercooler kit. if I buy the motor/supercharger Should I get this also?
I need a new motor and i have always wanted a supercharger this seems like an ideal situation. I know nothing about superchargers except I know i want one
Thanks
Steve

The supercharger with low boost will be fine going through emissions. As far as the motor goes when you swap from a 1.6L to 1.8L you only have to change a few things and it would be very easy for you to switch it back. Here is a list of the things that get change. I have personally done this swap and this is why I know.
motor mounts on the block
coil pack and bracket
throttle body
throttle cable bracket
and make the alternator and all that work
Being that you are switch it back to a stock 1.8L form all you have to do it remove the coil pack from your car and install it on the new motor, remove the throttle cable bracket from your car and install it on the new motor, remove the throttle body and adapter plate from new motor and install your stock one back on it, install all your stock motor mounts from your car and, install all your acc. and your done it no big deal. If its cheap buy it never hurts to have an extra motor.

Do it!!!!!!!!!! I have a guy I work with here in MD where emissions are really strict who has a 95 M edition and his car goes through with flying colors at 8 lbs I do not see why yours would not. Also consider the face that a complete used kit can be had for $800 and a good used motor for $500 so it is deff a fair deal in my eyes. I paid $900 for a complete 1.8L with all acc. and if the guy told me an extra $300 would get a super charger I wold be on it.
