Default Difference Between NB 1.6 Engine And NB 1.8?

Having just bought a NB 1.6 (available in Europe) I am trying to find out as much as possible about the differences between the engine used in the NB 1.6 and the engine from the NB 1.8, so that I can decide on how I am going to proceed with my FI plan.

I already have a JR M45 supercharger with JR air/water intercooler that is currently fitted to my NA 1.8. The intercooler should be a straight swap, as it was on a n NB when I bought it a few years ago. I think the biggest problem to overcome will be sourcing a bracket to mount the charger to the engine.

Can anyone tell me if the exhaust mounting bracket used on the Jackson Racing SC is the same size for all models?

1.8 NB has solid valve lifters
1.6 NB has Hydraulic valve lifters
1.8 >> variable intake manifold
1.8 >> diff ratio
1.8 >> Knock sensor (1.6 ???)

The 1.6 NB also has a knock sensor.

Bit of an late reply but the mounting bracket for the 1.8 wont fit.

The bracket should mount using the exhaust manifold bolts, which means that if you can source a 1.6 NA bracket then it will fit.

NAs are easier to find than the NBs.

The next bit after the bracket is the ECU because there isn't many 'plug and play' things on the market due to the limited countries the 1.6 NB was sold in.

Thanks for the reply, but I've since found out that the 1.6 does not use the exhaust manifold bolts is uses the extra mounting point on the engine block. I haven't test fitted the charger yet, so I'm not sure how different the dummy throttle body is. I have been told that later Mk1's (97 - 98) and early MK2's have the same throttle body and that the 1.6 Mk2 should be the same.

I wont be using plug and play solutions for fueling, I have a megasquirt to go on, so that should not be a problem.
