Default SC14 install

I've already posted about this on miata.net I basicly figured I'd crosspost here as well on it.

I'm currently working on setting up a toyota SC14 supercharger on my NA 1.6, using MS1 v3, and trying to keep the total cost down below 500ish bucks. Not expecting gobs of power but a little more is always nice.

I'm currently assembling the MS, and looking on creating brackets for the supercharger, I'll be mounting it hotside and basing my brackets slightly off the JR mounts.

Any feedback or suggestions are welcome.

We need pics... What are the specs on that SC14. Edit.. It seems to be a 1.4 liter, that is a pretty sizeable charger.

unfortunately not really much to take pictures of yet as I'm mostly lining up the supercharger and figuring out what all to mount it to, but when I get the brackets finished I'll take plenty.

I'm planning on running one, most likely just a cheapie ebay one or finding one in the for sale section here. I'll be looking into larger injectors, most likely something above 400cc.

I've really got plans to replace it after while, but not in a hurry to do so as I'm curious to what this 150 dollar supercharger will do.

I just told you, 160 at 14psi. On an aussie dyno, so I dont know, but I get the feeling that it will be 90 on a yank one (exagerating)

I just completed this exact same setup on my NA 1.6..

The supercharger runs 10psi and made 132rwkw (not sure on the horsepower conversion) and is absolutely awesome.

Im running 315cc injectors, intercooler and EMS stinger, im in Australia..

14psi and making 160rwhp? Really? Something doesn't seem right with that.

Too little, you should be well north of 200 with that amount of boost.

Real dyno here in australia.
Our dynos dont seem to bullshit like yours do. I think it was a dyno dynamics.
Remember its a blower not a turbo so it probably is closer to 200, minus the 30 or so to run the damned thing.

Believe it or not we have dyno dynamics here too, along with many other brands. There is somewhat of a correction factor to all to get a comparable number, but to give a blanket statement of all our dynos are bullshit is something I don't really understand.

This isn't some massive blower, so your loss wouldn't be anywhere close to 30hp from drag.

Something is not right with the setup to be making only 160hp at 14psi. If he really is seeing 9.5 AFR, then he will get cylinder wash and really screw over his motor. Not only that, you are giving up some serious power by not being closer to 11.5, so see what results you can get from the MS and let us know.

You must have missed the part where he said his mate's MR2 was making that much power with the same supercharger.

Different car

Different engine

Different dyno

Different day

Yea, that number sounds way wrong...

I'm not one to count my eggs before I hatch them on power, will wait for 1/4th times and dyno results on it. Given what others have made with the same kinda displacement superchargers I have a feeling I'll will be happy with the results regardless.

I'm still working on mounting the charger. I kinda had a random thought of mounting it coldside but don't really plan on it and will most likely mount it hot side running through an intercooler.

Mate I didnt mean to come across arrogant, which I think I did, What I meant was a playful stab at the numbers i USUALLY, not always see coming from US sites compared to Aussie sites.

They are usually very optimistic compared to ours either due to the dyno's, or the operators correction factors.
