I still long for the day where Emilio will descend from the mount with the hope and glory that is Tecna.

... that are correctly designed. They are cheap because they were non-adjustable and sealed. I don't remember if they were canned for cost reasons or what, but I would pay 1k for them. I think Emilio wanted $800 or so.

My Billies revalved by Two-Six Motorsports ride really well on the street. For less than $1000, IMO that's the best deal going.

isn't it that + the price of the billies?
people always tend to forget to mention that part.
and a lot of places won't even revalve used shocks, or will charge more to do it.

I feel that this thread has drifted somewhat from AlwaysBroken's original topic re: "I need poverty shocks" theme.

I really think the Dodgers have a chance this year.

I'll go ahead and chime in as someone who has used the FM Vmaxx/sway setup on track AND AND AND also used the XIDA BGK with 800/500 rates. Both setups on Rcomps.

Are the VMaxx in the same league as the XIDA? Of course not. Are they a surprisingly good shock for the money? Your damn right.

I suspect those who dislike the VMaxx ran them so low they were essentially always on the bump stops even at static ride height.

I've got about $700 tied up in my NB Bilstein Sports with a mis-matched "ground-control" setup and 550/350 Eibach/Summit springs, and I'm perfectly content. Good enough for me on the track (I'm still REALLY slow) and smoother on the street than my previous 100k mile OEM suspension. I'm not saying it's better or worse than anything else, but I know a few guys that are running basically this same setup and it seems to work fine.

Where are you located? You haven't added your location to your profile so it shows under your screen name. Somebody on here may be local enough to offer a test ride on a few setups. That's what I'd do.

If you want something that rides nice, don't go koni. I have yellows with GC 500/350 and it's not absolutely miserable, but it certainly doesn't ride nice. Does ok on a nice flat autocross course, but spirited driving in hill country last weekend was a bit eye opening. Mid corner bumps, have fun. I'm sure when I hit Harris Hill on this setup it'll be butt puckering. Can't comment on how billies would compare, haven't driven on them.

I had Koni race with 800/500 and I liked it but I don't drive my car every day. The main purpose of that set-up was to dodge cones, not get groceries or pick-up guys... I mean hang out with guys and talk about how slammed and flush my ride is. I also have race seats and drove 450 miles non-stop one way to an autox.

So yes, opinions vary wildly as to what one might find "acceptable" or "comfortable". I will say this, my koni 800/500 suspension and race seats are more comfortable than the stuff the car came with. Of course the stuff the car came with had 160k miles and beat to hell. Again, see how opinions can be useless?

Yes, but figure 500 for the shocks new and 500 for revalving or pick up some used shocks from ebay.

I may try to bum a ride along depending on when you get your Xidas installed. I picked up some used MSM billies for $100. Going to slowly pickup the rest when I can (hopefully over the next few months) and install. I'll be down in FL for vacation in November.

I'm currently in the midst of an engine rebuild. Not doing the xidas until the car is running again. No promises they will be on the car by November.

Hah, no problem. Maybe if mine are completed and installed by November I can give you a ride to feel a makeshift Bilstein build.
