Default My transmission story

Well I got my new 1.9L motor in today and got every thing all set. So I thought I would go for a sort ride. Well on this short ride I was going down a strait away and was in 3rd gear so I went half throttle. I was at half throttle for about 3sec and as soon as I left of the gas i heard a noise coming from my tranny. So my first thought was the throw out bearing but it was new. so then i said maybe it some how came off the fork.

Well I made it back to my shop and pulled the tranny out. So once it was out i put the tranny into neutral and the shaft spins a quarter turn and stops even in gear. So it looks like its time for a six speed but what I want to know is if there is anything other then getting a six speed. Like I know the 2gen rx7 NA tranny will work in the miatas if you switch the bell housing and tail housing but does anyone know if they will hold up better then the miata trannys.

Sorry for any grammar or spelling errors English was never my strong side but turning a wrench is.

well you could get the quafie gear set from FM if you wanted to. The rx7 swap takes more than a bell housing swap you need mounting points etc it is a big headache.

If you do get an RX7 transmission, I have a thread around here somewhere where I laid out what all would be required to get a sequential system working on it.

EDIT: if you are interested that is

Quafie gears would be nice but way out of my price range at the moment. Also are you talking about the turbo Rx7 tranny or the NA rx7 tranny. I have been reading up on solo miata that to swap the NA rx7 tranny you need to swap the bell housing and tail housing to make it work. seeing how as the insides are the same just different gearing. I just want to know if anyone here knows if there stronger.

if the insides are the same then it will breack cause our gears suck and we get case flex that doesnt help matters much either
