600 bucks for a set is not too bad. 390/250 sounds a lot like what Brain was talking about for a street car, though IIRC he was saying that 450/250 would be perfect.

Looks like they did some development and changed the springs/bumps a little to justify the price.

They are mark-up central though...of course your option is BEGi god forbid. (<-sarcasm font)

Anticapitalist much?

Have you dealt with FM much? Have you dealt with stratmosphere-com much?

I know who I'd rather deal with. You guys are killing me today. I might even shed a tiny tear over it.

The vendor, Stratmosphere, has been offering VMaxx on m.net from the begging of October of '07.

People have tested them, and found that with NA F 308/154, R 308/132
NB F 308/154, R 374/132 spring rates, the balance was pretty much out whack.

Glad to see that FM worked on spring rate and bumpstop design to make the setup better.
The price is no more than it originally was. Yes, these will not win you any championships, but, I have yet to see a piece of crap to come out of FM (YMMV ).

Also, bear in mind that the valving is fixed, so, don't plan on swapping springs anytime soon. Er, make it, never.

They're going to be tested at laguna seca next weekend by fm, looking forward to hearing the results. All the idiots at cr like racelands better because they go lower, they don't seem to get that these are FM designed. Probably going to get a set of these in the next few months, as long as other reviews are good. plus 2 year warranty!

I wonder if the shocks will handle a stiffer spring rate? Perhaps somewhere around the 500/550 front and 300/350 rear.

Has anyone tested these shocks on a dyno?

While I think the world of the folks at FM, I'm not sure that specifying a spring rate qualifies you as having "designed" something.

If I started selling Raceland coilovers with a 250# rear spring instead of the 350# spring, would you say that I designed them? If so, I'd be happy to start doing it.

In all seriousness, though... What I see here is that a mainstream Miata vendor has started offering a cheap Chinese-made coilover package as a low-buck alternative to the usual offerings. The parts which make up said package are all available elsewhere on eBay, for slightly less money. Is this a bad thing?

Substitute "turbo" for "coilover", and "Bell" for "FM". So far, that one has turned out pretty well for the cheapskates.
