Big Gulp needs a clutch.... Suggestions?
Well, Good ole Big Gulp has eaten her clutch. And eaten IS the proper term!!!
It WAS a CF PP and ACT organic street disc. So what I am looking to find it a clutch capable of holding at least 400 foot lbs and be VERY streetable as I will be driving her in bumper to bumper.
I am currently running Big Gulp at 16 psi. Mind you that is inter-cooled and on a highly built motor.. I have EVERY intention of taking her back to 26 psi soon as well.
I am looking at the FM S2, but it is not even rated for 400... I suspect it will not hold for very long. I do have every single intention of abusing it. Ideally I would like a clutch that is forgiving enough that it is not
A. an on/off switch
B. going to shatter my driveline rather than slip
C. going to make my left leg look like my right arm!
I intend on continuing to use the stock flywheel. The engine already revs fast enough!
I would love any feedback I can get. I have been reading clutch threads for 2 days and have yet to find a good solution. I figure you Turbo guys have to be hell on clutches ! And I do not own this car to drive like a little old lady.

Holy crap did you suck a bird into that thing?
Have you looked at the 949 racing twin disk setup?
It's expensive but it meets your requirements.

What type of driver are you? Me, I am a pedal to the floor sideways in the in the turns kinda guy... when I am alone anyway What kind of torque are you making?
I am just trying to gauge weather it will handle the stresses it will see. Surely if the ACT held up as long as it did...

Like y8s said,
Big Gulp is a one off Cold Side MP62 MONSTER!!! At 26 PSI she was dyno'd on pump gas at 342 rwhp and 347 Torque. That was by the builder a few years ago. Since then she underwent several changes again, he added Meth and Nitrous, dropped the boost down, worked on the Intercooler, throttle and exhaust.
Not sure what she makes right now, but I can tell you at 16 psi, most have said it is the most ride ever! And that is without the nitrous!
As for about the car?
The motor is a 1999 1.8l bored to 1.89l. The Crank was lightened and polished, Then the crank was balanced with the flywheel and Pullys on it. All ports, top to bottom were polished. The rods are Pauter and the pistons are Weisco. Compression has been lowered to 8.5 I believe.
There are also a lot of little tricks and tweaks that I am still finding as I go thru it as well.
LOL!!! Yea I LOVE that!
I bought the car Valentine's day of last year. Over that time it has been on the chopping block a couple of times.. But every time I drive it again, even if for only a few minutes, I realize I am nuts to consider getting rid of her!
But DAMN can she eat money!
Here is a youtube video to give an idea of the scream in question..
Ok nevermind.. here.

Urrghh
I have a 6 puck sprung ACT with an xtreme pressure plate. Used to have the organic disc.
I like it a lot. Heavy pedal feel. Which I like. I slip it a lot for slow starts in first or it bangs around.
Your car sounds great. Where are you?

I have considered the 949, but the sheer cost of it almost guarantees I won't get to drive the ole girl any time soon. However, I may go back and do this again next year and go with a twin disc setup. I know it is something Richard wanted to do, but nothing was available at the time.
I just can't see me getting a grand past the wife atm though. :(
Maybe, but not very likely!
Faeflora I am in Tennessee, land of the Vols and the Dragon!
