Default Suspension experts... benefits/drawbacks of oem front shock tower brace

I have a stock suspension, engine, tire/wheel 2001 miata... and I want to install a flyin miata master cylinder brace, but i found out it isn't compatable with my stock strut tower brace.

I've read a lot of conflicting posts on what this brace does.

Some say it reduces cowl shake over rough pavement

some say it makes the car understeer at autocross speeds

Others say it does absolutely nothing, and can be removed without effecting anything.

I'd like to get some feedback, but also really understand the physics behind the brace...

Thanks everyone

It weighs something, it doesnt make your tyres stickier, and it produces no boost pressure.

Take it off.

It might reduce NVH somewhat, and thereby give the sensation of a stiffer car.

IME it reduces cowl shake on rough pavement. On a smooth AX or road course, it wouldn't be a benefit.

The way the front subframe is structured, I'd be surprised if this isn't the right answer.

I removed the strut tower brace, installed master cylinder brace. Took an aggressive drive, and can see no decrease in handling.

I'll be surprised if the master cylinder brace actually stays tight. I was quite disappointed with it. Flyin Miata brace btw.
