Default broken bolt on swaybar u-bracket, need ideas...

So one of the bolts on the U bracket that holds the swaybar to the frame broke, so I have 3 out of the 4 bolts holding the sway to the frame.

I tried to extract it with some extractors I have but it's obviously rusted the **** in there. My next idea was just to drill thru it and do a bolt/nut, since it's already a thru bolt and I'd probly **** the threads while drilling.

Does anyone else have any other ideas?

Drill it out and use a nut and bolt. You can weld in the replacement bolt if you're crafty.

Penetrating oil a few days before an effort…sometimes helps avoid broken bolts. Don't reuse such bolts if you do get them out, have replacements handy.

Alright, bolt/nut it is.

I put some pb blaster on the sway-bar, endlink and control arm bolts preparing for an alignment and new sway. Damn bolt still broke, hoping the shop doing my alignment will have better luck with my CA bolts :-\

Well it held up to an autox event yesterday. It was my first time out in this car and first time out since June.

They did a two course setup, run 3 on first course, they switch it up, run 3 on the second course. The first course was more technical and was lower speeds, so I sucked it up. Second course was more of a momentum course, was even uphill but my car definitely flowed better on it.

Got beat by another e-stock on 225 a6s(vs my 205 r888s) by 0.8 seconds on the first course and I managed to beat him by .020 on the second course :-D.

My advantages: r-package springs and lighter
My disadvantages: older shocks, less grippier tires, skinnier tires, heavier wheels, really old really bad rear pads(lots of front lock-up:( )

I was happy with the day, enjoyed the national type two-course layout as well.
