I am aligning my car after putting in 700/400 xida CS with helpers and I was targeting 4.25" front 4.5" rear but I seem to run out of pre-load room in the front at just under 4.75". Any opinions on the spring passing zero preload at full droop?

My car is lighter than average being naturally aspirated, starting as an r-package, and having no AC, stereo, airbags, a kirkey seat, and a few other things removed.

Pretty standard deal. Every car I set up ends up with no preload on the front springs. The sway bar will keep the springs seated unless the car is in the air. Use a couple of self-tapping screws from the inside of the NB tophat to the spring seat to keep it in place when you work on it. If it really, really bugs you, you can do a zero-rate helper to keep the spring seated at full droop, but there's no functional reason to since the sway bar keeps everything in place under normal use.

same deal for me. Make sure the upper spring seat bushings goes back in its home when you let it down off the jacks. sometimes its a fairly loud bang when it does so. And when you hear it driving to Grid its a little scary...lol

Big bang with the HVT tophats, yep. Freaks people out sometimes, but it's how I know the spring seat is seated on the hat . The OTS Clubsports with the NB tophats and plastic spring seats shouldn't make any noise, though.

Would it be a terrible idea to use a dab of JB weld to temporarily hold the locators in place? I am taking the car to get aligned and corner weighted and I know it is very unlikely I will be able to communicate this to the tech. Sheet metal screws would work but I am trying to find a lazy solution that doesn't involve pulling the front shocks.

Our alignment shop doesn't need to jack the car up to do their work. They drive it on an alignment rack, which moves up with the car.
