So I got a friction disk only with my Turbo setup purchase. It is a Daiken with rubber bumpers and I dont know the specs at all?

I knew I needed a PP so I went searching.

I ebayed a lightly used ACT HD PP and friction disk combo of a wrecked 99 ($36 for the PP and disk and $50 to ship to Canada). I just wanted the PP but it came with a disk and I could not argue with that.

It makes sense to use the ACT FD that came with the PP but I wanted to check with you guys first??

What can you tell me about the Daiken one ?

Sorry I knew which one was the ACT and the Daiken, I do not know about the Daikens specs. Maybe I worded my question wrong.

So it's a stock piece, I thought it was aftermaket and could hold more pressure than stock.

Is Daiken always stock or do they make (uprated holding power) disks?

Do they make any liver patte?

Daikin (note spelling) is a brand made by Exedy. They have both stock-replacement and uprated clutch products.

Pretty sure the actual OEM part uses springs (not rubber thingys) but apart from that, no way to know what that disc is.

If your going turbo and you can't decide between several used clutch's, always go with the biggest springs...

I'm pretty sure I've seen a few oem replacement ones look like that.

Use the ACT kit, disc still has plenty of material...

FWIW I put a stock like aftermarket Exeddy Daikin disk that looked like that in with a ACT HD PP and the thing slipped like mad halfway through a track day in my 323 GTX. The ACT SS with the same PP held like 100 more FT-lbs after I replaced just the disk. The friction material may look similar but I am pretty sure it is not equivalent.

That ACT disk has lots of material, Use it.

Thanks again for all the help, I would have done a man cry if I had to have re-opened up the tranny to put the clutch in a 2nd time. (I havn't even done it a 1st time)


Does a clutch job benefit from being done the same time as the turbo install or will doing it before hand be just as easy?

Also I would assume that when the tranny is out would also be the best time to put in the motor mounts as theres less weight to lift - correct?

Also, also with the tranny out I can get to the diff mounts a little bit easier since the shaft and PPF are taken care of - correct?

Also does wearing a weighlifting belt while on the leg press machine help decrease the chance of violent flatulance ?
