I'm almost done finally putting my car together after 6 months of having it apart, however it seems that somewhere during this time my driveshaft bolts dissapeared.

Anyone know what size they are and what length? It would be much appreciated so I can go get some tomorrow and finally have this thing on the road (assuming it starts )

i want to say m8. not very long enough for two .125 flange surfaces and a nut.

I don't recall exact size, but I do know that the 1.8 shafts use a bolt one step up in diameter vs. the 1.6 shafts. It's most likely 8mm / 10mm. Easy enough to find out though. Since it's a self-centering through-bolted connection, you can use whatever size fits.

Also, remember that the bolts have shoulders on them below the heads that have a somewhat precise fit with the holes on the flex plate. Not sure what would happen if you just use bolts without shoulders, and the threads are in contact with the holes. You will be transmitting power through the edges of the threads. Not ideal IMO.

Personally, I would just get the right bolts from the stealership or Rosenthal.

Get the right ones. The bolts have an odd stepped design to them.

The bolts holding my driveshaft in came from ACE hardware.

They're nothing special, just get 10.9 bolts which have a non-threaded shank for enough of their length to cover the area where they pass through with the flanges. This isn't NASA-grade stuff, just regular off-the-shelf hardware.

Thanks guys, I'll just get some hardware store 8mm's to get it driveable with my 1.6 rear end, then when the turbo goes on and I swap to the 1.8 rear I have (waiting on axles to come in) then I will get some bolts from the dealership.
