I just bought a brand new fidanza flywheel for my 97. I went to install it today and the flywheel bolts will not fit through the holes to bolt it to the crankshaft. Before I drill out the holes. Has anyone had this problem before?

I also have tried both the stock bolts and arp bolts. Neither will fit.

How sure are you that you've got the right part?

Yes 161181 is the 94 to 05 Miata flywheel number. It is one the box and the flywheel itself. The clutch bolts to it as well

I had to on a previous car. Had an expansion reamer so no big deal. Use a 12mm reamer. Use 10.9 or 12.9 grade bolts.

IIRC Fidanza uses M8x1.25x16 so not stock pitch. Use 10.9 bolts here too.

This is concerning the pressure plate bolts? My fw came with new ones.

Sorry misread your OP...

I had one on another car and the 12mm holes were a bit undersized. I opened them up with an expansion reamer (they were under by about .002-.004"). Looks like they use a 15/32 drill instead of a 12mm.

I'd use a reamer not a drill and a drill press to keep the reamer square.

Yea that's what I was thinking it just looks like they drlleid them to small. I have that stuff at work.
