What do you guys recommend for the street? I'm getting tired of people commenting on the XP8's spreading its love dust on the 6UL's, and lets be honest, I'm not hitting the track any time soon. Most stopping is stop light to stop light.

I'm looking for a lower dusting, non rotor eating pad that won't sound like a cash for clunkers car is slowing down.

As reference, I'm just running Trackspeeds base Wilwood/Corrado kit.

I think I'm running HP+. Great pad, and if you choose to do an autox or light track day, like on all seasons, they'll do great there too.

Pick a Carbotech compound because if you fart near a Carbotech burnished rotor the transfer layer will be compromised and people will tell you that you had brake failure because of the bedding process.

Hawk DR97's are pretty good, but I'd just run the DTC's on the street.

Went with the HPS and will put new rotors on since the XP8's put some love grooves in the old ones.

Hopefully between these and the new upper/lower ball joints, the car will STFU (upper ball joints moving around) and not dust so much.

Weird going from an XP8 to a Hawk HPS pad. The XP8's had very little smell when bedding them in and gripped like a gorilla, but the Hawk's smell like someone learning how to drive a stick. Hopefully this will get rid of the constant dusting though. It has cut down how touchy the brake pedal is, which is really nice.

Glad we could help! Is that the more aggressive pad? I know I said I have HP+, but I actually have which ever is the more aggressive pad. Dusty, but works great for track days, until I switch to R-comps of course.

my dad's MG has these... seems dust is an issue, but the brakes are great.

normal brake pads? just go to the parts store and buy some. Get some ceramics if you care about dust, and buy normal mid-line ones if you don't care.

Hi newb, we're talking about pads for Wilwood calipers, not usually available at NAPA.

Believe it or not, you can find Willwood pads at some of autoparts stores. Or they can order then for you.

I have Hawk pads on 2 of my vehicles (Not my miata). Both are HEAVY V8 powered autos.

I really like the HPS pads on my full-sized Ford. Stops MUCH harder than OEM and very low dust on my lace wheels (HPP Package). Quiet too.

I have LTS's on my Explorer. Stops like stock, maybe a lil bit harder. Pedal feel is much improved. But, the do have a little less initial bite than Motorcraft parts. Also Quiet.

Now, the track toy has Porterfields. Are the quiet? NO. Are they dust free? NO. Do they fade?? NO. I have yet to get these buggers to fade, even with repeated 60-5 mph stops. Maybe my miata is tooo slow??? And they stop RIGHT NOW. Loved 'em.

Every set of Hawks I've ever had were a constant dust problem. I went to EBC Greenstuffs from Hawks because I got tires of washing my wheels twice a week.


Also, try Rejex. It's a synthetic wax that they sell online and at some motorcycle shops. Its so slick that it keeps brake dust from sticking for a few weeks, then you can just blow the dust off with the air compressor and a blow gun after it does start to stick. Armor All sells a wheel wax in a spray can that works ok, too, but takes forever to dry after you spray it on, and it only lasts a couple of weeks before you have to reapply.

I wish I could get Vatozone pads for AP Racing 6-slugs so I could floss on the street in my Rustoleum painted car.

The autoparts stores are more expensive then Ebay or even Jegs.... Even with the employee discount.

It took a ton of cleaning to get the wheels back to shiney, but they finally look decent again. One side of the spokes has the pad material embedded into them. Wonder if thats from the 130-5 stops while tuning the PE tables
