Default I LIKE the STOCK MIATA SUSPENSION BETTER THAN ANYTHING ELSE!! But I have a question.

Hello to all ---

First off let me preface - I cannot stand miata.net - the closeminded, sheeple, collective borg-think astounds me as the miata us SUPPOSED to be an enthusiasts car. So im mposting here with the assumption that you people here are more openminded since turbo modiification required invidual thought and creativity.

Now to my question.

I LOVE the stock miata suspension. I am not knocking ANYONE here with a lowered car - I have just driven so many lowered miatas - all sorts of kits -- and I can't get over their common failure - limited suspension travel. The 'ugly wheel-gap' in the stock miata is what permits me to have so much fun as I can take the car from spring extended to spring fully compressed on every turn. And best of all I can FEEL this suspension travel.

I feel the classic body-roll that TELLS ME where the car is at in the turn. Many who are pro-lowering always say the same thing "lowering eliminated body roll" -- WHY ON EARTH would I want to eliminate that beautiful miata body roll and all its awesome feedback.

In a hard turn I can literally tell how far I am from spinning out by feeling how much the spring has compressed and the body is rolling, or squating to the opposite side. In a lowered miata there is now warning - it feels sticky and flat as a go-kart.. which is cute... but then you spin out with absolutley no warning! No feel, no tire screetch.. it literally hugs the road one second and the next you are in a 360 degree spin. This is not fun to me - its nerve wrecking and not confidence inspiring.

Unfortunately the love-affair with aftermarket lowering springs is more of a closeted-ricer based emotional one, rather than a logical one. In fact when I first got a miata years back I wanted to lower it -- that is UNTIL I drove a few that were. Go kart, go kart, go kart, WIPEOUT [no warning]

EEWW!

What happened to that classic roadster feel?

So anyway my question is - is there ANY WAY to LOWER a miata and retain ALL - 100% suspension travel? And I literally mean in INCHES -- im NOT sure the exact stock suspension travel, but lets say its 3 inches. Is there any possible way to lower the car but still have the wheel able to travel the 3 inches up and down?

Thanks.

PS - this is NOT an attack on lowered cars, NOR an invitation for you to tell me lowering is better etc -- I LIKE AND ENJOY ALL lowered miatas, they just dont fit my 'line walking' driving style on public roads. Im simply looking to see if anyone has mathematically retained stock suspension travel distances on a lowered car. For instance if the shcok mounts on all 4 wheels could be 'raised' and inch upward, while you lower the car 1 inch.. would something like this work? Does such a shock mount exist?

Thanks in advance - and REMEMBER - I LOVE LOWERED MIATAS - Im not hating on your lowered people AT ALL!

Peace

tl;dr
How about you use the search button. This "shock mount" you're wondering about exists and has been discussed many times over.

And LOL @ wanting body roll

***EDIT: if you're just opening this thread and in doubt whether you should read it, do yourself a favor and READ IT. IT IS SO WORTH IT

Dude,

How about not being the annyoing first person to reply and say "use the search button" -- ok dude - I used it - and NO THREAD dicusses how to keep the EXACT stock suspension travel while lowering.

Please do not do this cookie cutter 'use the seach button' response - and yes I want body roll for the reasons I described above - I DO NOT EXPECT you to understand as I rarley run into anyone who drives like me.

Yes I know the sheeple miata owner routine - get one, lower 1", big sway bars, adjustable shocks, bahh bahh bahh, handle like a go kart, but cant take a turn with confidence except for autocross... spare me.

Sorry, meant to post that..

1991 NA miata -- stock of course...

Looking to keep EXACTLY same travel, while lowering 1-1.5 inches.

Thanks!

How about not being the annoying 10000000th n00b to make a thread as their 1st post asking **** that's been discussed multiple times?
If you truly believe that last bolded part you are nuts.
Not many here will understand your "driving style" because people here like making their cars take corners faster, not slower. And that means lowering it and running upgraded suspension.
Put on some nb tophats or get aftermarket ones<- this you could have found out by doing 1 minute worth of searching.

Dude,

Im not going to argue with you - obviously I hit a nerve with you.

But you have a lowered miata and over 8,000 posts here so I'm not the least but surprised at your anger.

I told you in the OP that I dont want to discuss opinions. I am a n00b to this forum like you are a noob to driving. Perhaps when you hit 9,000 internet miata forum posts you'll realize that mazda got it right hte first time and that lowering a miata is equal to trying to make up for your freudian shortcommings.

PS - searching "nb tophats" tells explains nothing that answers my question.

Holy **** this is going to be a good thread

You asked how you could slightly lower your car but retain the stock suspension feel and travel.
I posted the answer. You told me you don't want the answer.

Did you ride the short yellow bus as a kid? LOLOL

He can't drive his SLAMMED miata, but he CAN use the search function on miataturbo.net.

If you have a link to prove that there IS an answer to this supposed discussed question please post the link and save your emo slammed ricer gibber jabber for racing cones in the parking lot of Tru-Value. Some miata owners drive on real roads and know how a roadster is supposed to handle.

The question, in case you got confused is an easy one:

LOWERED NA miata with EXACT SAME stock suspension travel. Is it possible? {or impossible}

Wow..... Swap out your NA tophats (upper shock mounts) for those of an NB. It''ll lower the car a bit, while retaining suspension travel.... now go away.

EDIT: Mods, you could go ahead and close this thread whenever you feel nessesary.
