Which Brake Pads are good?
I looked through 6 pages of this sub thread. Some info around.
But which brake pads do you prefer for the street?
I have silvers right now. I don't know who makes them. But they are waaay better than stock.
I wanna go ahead and get some pads for when these wear out. But with the increased boost and power from the FLUX COMPASITOR, I don't want Oreilly's pads. lol

I have PBR ultimates on my 97 and they are great for street to autocross. I wouldnt hesitate to buy them again, but at first I was concerned that they would be too agressive and would have trouble stopping when it was cold.

I haven't upgraded to the 94 brakes yet. How do yall like the Hawks, EBC, What about these EBC Yellows? Go miata has some green pads. They all seem pricey. Hawks at Racing beat where the best price.
It gets cold here in the morrnings 30 degrees, and I fight DFW's traffic.
I've seen the differance pads make on a Street bike. It is like black and white.

Just installed HP+s all the way around for a trackday I was instructing last weekend. I experienced no fade what so ever, and I brake hard and deep and also trail brake constantly (stock suspension on Hankook RS2s chasing down cars with R-comps). Great modulation and never locked them up.
I haven't had them long enough to say how they do on the street, but They've already started dusting pretty badly.
note: this car is practically stock, but the track is tight and has 2 serious break zones. YMMV

Carbotech Bobcats FTMFW! Great street/AutoX pad - quiet, no dusting & stop great. I think they lasted over 2 1/2 years on my E Stock Miata with daily driving and at least one AutoX/month.
For a stock powered Miata, just throw on a set of Carbotech XP8s on the front and you're good to go on the track. The rear Bobcats should last a couple of seasons.
For a FI Miata on the track, throw on a set of Hawk HT10s all the way around.

LOL Hustler - I agree, though as track pads, they are a waste. I DD stock pads, and They are fine - For the track I use PF97's, as they are real race pads.
Really, on the street you typically don't get the pads hot enough to take advantage of the higher friction material of a race pad, so you don't need anything too aggressive.

I'm running stock pads right now too, lol. I may try carbotech's, but if not I'm switching to hps on the street for the front, blue for the track, and hp+ in the rear for both activities.

Pros: higher temperature capability, consistent "bite" in temps from high 30's Fahrenheit to triple digits
Debatable: reduced "dynamic range" due to higher coefficient of friction (how much pressure you can put on the brake pedal before lock up occurs). I prefer it, others don't.
