Default Loud clunking noise from the diff (most likely)

Hello guys,
friend of mine is having a headache with his diff and asked me to help.
This is what he told to me:
"Since one unintentional drift (more like a loose of control in 3rd gear that I was able to recover) I'm hearing knocking from the diff. The frequency of knocking increases with the increasing speed.
When on full throttle or while braking, knocking doesn't occur.
When coasting without gear or cruising on constant speed, knocking does occur
When turning the driveshaft by hand, there is a play followed by knock and only after that wheels start to turn".

So he took the diff to me I opened it up and checked backlash but that seems to be spot on. My other guess was U joints on driveshaft, he will check them tomorrow when he will be in garage. Could you reccomend me and him, what to check on the diff, or on the other parts of the car ? the noise is really loud it is not like clunking noise from my clutch type LSD. The diff is Torsen T2.

Thank you so much for any help or ideas !

Eccentric bolts loosening up? They clunk. . . But you'd feel it in the steering. ..
