Put one in my MSM and totally changed the feel and reduced throw by about 50%. IMO a must have for anyone who likes to drive their car even in the slightest of spirited manners because it just gets you so connected to the car

I love the tall version in mine. I agree with it completely changing the feel of the shifter.

I feel like our shifters are already short as hell.
When you guys say "feel" what do you mean? Its less sloppy? Its more precise? There is no play in it whatsoever? Because 50% shorter throws isn't enough to get me to drop $250 on a shifter

Less sloppy, more precise, easier effort. I got the tall one. Bill at MR said he's out of the standard height and trying to find a decent shop to machine them.

Granted, my experience with it was all of 20 min before my motor went boom.

it makes the gears much less vague. It feels like flipping a switch when you shift. Very clear engagement and most people who missed shifts say it helps a lot, provided a damaged syncro is not the problem.

It's the lower bushing that makes the shifter feel better, not the rest of that stuff. If you have the "small ball" on your 6-speed you can get one from Mazdaspeed for $9.

The bend is nice. The throw on the long / bent shifter rod is very close to the throw of the stock shifter but your hand is closer to the wheel.

On a side note, the fulcrum points are nearly identical on the early 99-00 6-speed miata transmission shifter as it is to a RX7 TII shifter.

I'll report back once I get everything bolted together. Still many months away.

I saw that on mazdaspeed. Looking at the stock shifter it seems like there is rubber isolation between the upper and lower parts of the shifter for NVH. The MR version is solid.

I will likely go your route with MS bushing, extend length and heavier ****.

Lets put it this way I have the tall bent one from MR and I wont go back to stock EVER!! Even if I buy a new miata its the first thing I'm going to do!

I have the tall angled shifter from MR and it is significantly more crisp than stock. Although, I prefer a lighter shift **** on it rather than a heavy one; I had a 400g **** at the end of my shifter and it felt a little too vague. Overall the MR shifter was a good purchase and I would say it's a large improvement over stock.

AFAIK, the 5-speed ball is the same size across the board (15mm). This is also the same as the early 6-speeds.
