Engagement is nearly at the floor (maybe 3/8-5/8" off). No matter what I do to adjust it... it won't move. (pedal stop fully adjusted and push rod adjusted per FM's push on slave instructions). It seems to change engagement through out the session and I can't get the car into gear at the end of the session. For example in the hot pits after my cool down lap getting it into first or reverse is some times not possible. I've replaced the Clutch master and slave 3 times (each) to try and correct this issue and re-bled the clutch with a power bleeder, gravity bleed and old fashion way (masters are bench bled before install) to no avail.

I've dropped the trans and checked the install fully, throw out bearing, pressure plate, clutch wear, clutch fork etc... and can't find any issues. FM just keeps telling me "It's your install... we need to have the engagement on teh floor to offer stock like pedal effort..." and will not replace the unit.

My fault for buying a clutch from some one that doesn't race cars or focus on track days. Won't make that mistake again.

Hmm. Something tells me that (as much as I like the 949 clutch) it's not going to solve your problems. Have you checked your slave cylinder throw length vs. other cars? I feel like something is out of whack.

Emilio, what say you?

Low engagement appears to be a characteristic of the clutch in question, according to the quote by EErockMiata. In my experience this is the primary functional difference between heat treated diaphragm springs (SuperMiata) and non-heat treated (other brands). I do not know how their clutch is made. Ours is heat treated.

bah, didn't see that they did.

Oh well, 1.8 organic + light flywheel. I'm sure I won't regret it, or the extended clutch line when I put it all back together...

Looks like this disengagement issue with the FM clutches is actually a fairly common problem as of late. Seen 4-5 thread posts alone about this sort of thing.

Emilio, I'm considering your organic clutch or the FM1 for a 200 wtq setup. I'm a little spooked about this stuff I'm hearing about the FM1, plus apparently their clutch is made by Competition Clutch, and I've had their clutches fall apart on me after 15 or so days of track abuse in my Honda. Not the best quality build when you really look at it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but sounds like I can get a good street-friendly feel, no chatter, and a mid to high pedal engagement, and still be able to expect good life out of the organic with heavy track use?

If you can get stock in the next three weeks, I'd like one.

NEVER MIND, I just remembered that you said to check your site and that you could not update here... Sorry...

Emilio, any idea when you expect the next set of 1.6 Organic Sprung and Flywheel to be in?

Just keep checking the website. Due in any day now. This supplier does not have the ability to give me a firm date so I can't relay anything solid to you.
That's also why we don't allow pre-ordering on clutches.

Also, much better to contact me via email regarding ordering /availability questions.

1.8 and 1.6 organic clutches back in stock now. I just ordered my 1.8 sprung organic clutch after waiting what seemed to be forever.

Is your TOB in this kit OEM or uprated ? In your experience does a car with a higher rated clutch and/or a pucked clutch need a stronger than OEM TOB ?

We us a quality OEM replacement bearing. We have been using these bearings for years (10?), never had one go bad.

I finally got the new 1.6 SuperMiata Clutch and flywheel mounted on the 03 engine that I am dropping in my 93. Seems like such a shame to hide such pretty pieces.

Hopefully I can button up the new engine install in the next few weeks and report back on the clutch/flywheel.

949 sells a transparent, environmentally friendly transmission housing made of repurposed corn husks that you could buy if you wanted to keep it visible.

Oh awesome!

How's the engagement point? One of the common complaints with the FM clutch is that it's right off the floor, or.... on the other side of the firewall, really.

Engages similar to stock height I guess. I really doubt know how to judge. It is definately pleasant.

Btw, I have the ceramic sprung clutch and I highly recommend it. Very rarely do I ever get the ceramic scream/squeak and usually it's my fault for not being smooth.
