Default Tire Advice

I'm getting really into autoxing this season. I'm very competitive in my miata but I just cannot beat those ****** STIs. My limitation is most certainly tires at this point. I feel like the only thing keeping me at the top of the list is my turbo and basic suspension mods. My tires are 3yr old Falken ZE 512s. I feel like i'm on a wet track on the nicest of days.

I'm running 16's and want 15's badly but cant afford them at the moment. Tires are going to be enough of a stretch. Also, as much as I want some RS-2s I need something that is atleast passable in the winter (rain, not snow). I'm thinking the Yokohama S Drives would be my best bet. So far i've been running 205/45/16s but thinking about going up a size to 215s. My question there is would the slightly wider tire be worth the slight increase in price? Should I be thinking about different tires than the S Drives? The reviews on tire rack seem to indicate they are my best bet.

Aside from the tire issue i'm just a bad driver still. I oversteer all over the place cause i'm bad about lifting in corners. Anyway, advice is appreciated, thanks!

I'm much like you, I've gotten bitten by the autox bug lately, hence my latest FCM install thread. I actually went with 225/45/16 RS2's a couple years ago. They do reasonably at the events, but I still am in need of something better. Unfortunately I think I'm going to have to step down to a 215/45/16 bc no one else makes that size.. The hot **** at the autox are the Dunlop Direzza Star Spec's, which don't really come in Miata friendly 16" sizes. But those may not even apply if your looking for something to drive year round.
