Yup, we went there.



Benefiting from the same economies of scale as the 11.75" rotors used in our BBK, the most common circle-track stock car caliper is the Wilwood Superlite. With a pad that measures 0.800" thick (Dynalite/Dynapro pads are 0.490" thick), it has nearly double the usable pad volume of a standard Wilwood BBK pad.



This kit has been an idea in my mind for a few years, and one of our lunatic customers (@GeneSplicer) asked if we had anything bigger than our standard 11.75" kit available. Samples were purchased and after much finessing and fiddling, we were able to tuck that Wilwood Forged Superlite under a couple of 15" wheels.

Thus was born... The Mega Brake Kit.

It's on the website now, listed as the "Superlite" option under our standard 11.75" BBK. It uses a unique bracket and we'll only ship it with a directional vane rotor, but you get all the same components you would otherwise get in our standard 11.75" BBK. The best part is the price - just $999 for all this madness.

These are huge calipers, so most 15" wheels will not clear them. They will clear 15x10 6ULs, and I'll have some info on 15x9s later this week, but they will not fit under 15x9 6ULs. Don't ask if they will clear your XYZ 15x8s, because they won't. They won't clear most 15x9s. We expect most 15x10s to clear, but that's not a guarantee. Since you're building an extreme Miata, we also assume you're OK with the minor caliper modification required to fit the caliper to the upright (some casting flash has to be removed from the caliper). It's a small price to pay for putting this kind of stopping power on a Miata.

Genesplicer's kit is in the photos, so he'll have his first. Everyone else will need to wait 3-4 weeks for delivery, and pre-paid pre-orders will be required for the first batch. Use the website for pre-orders and shipping quotes (including international).

Beat me to it! I've had this exact combo in the back of my head for some time now. Well done, that's all the brakes a bonkers Miata will need, plus just an extra scosche for good measure.

Checked a few more wheels today. The 15x9 Konig Dial-In and 15x9 Advanti Storm S1 both clear the Superlite with a 5mm spacer installed. The Jongbloed 15x9 does not clear, even with a 5mm spacer.

also, what supplier can offer pads to suit, i have been using Carbotech that i like. I presume they don't do this size pad?

Yes, 15x9, sorry. Edited my last post for clarity.

Hawk and PFC both make pads for this caliper, IIRC. We can get both. Unsure on Carbotech.

Wow. I'm not track-rat enough to justify this, but it's good to know for later in life. You and Emilio (via 6UL 15x11's) are making me think this whole manual steering thing.
