5-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION REBUILD KIT
Hi!
I searched for hours repair kit for the gearbox, and I found 3 options but not know the quality of them.
Someone has repaired the transmission? Which experiences have you had?

3)
"Drivetrain.com" 261$ bearings and synchros kit

Is there a reason you are rebuilding rather than buying a used one? Are they uncommon in Venezuela?
Sorry to answer a question with a question but they are so cheap and easy to come by in the us that its almost always easier to just replace it. Mostly given the fact that they are kind of a pain in the *** to disassemble.

I don't know about you guys, but $150~250 is going price out my way for a crapshoot used 5 speed. Rebuild tends to be stupid expensive on top of that.

My first option would be that of finding a used gearbox, but junkyard here have nothing concerning to the miatas.
I found a transmission but it does not work reverse, that's a bad sign.
In fact mine works perfectly, the trouble is the bearings in 3rd and 5th gear makes a noise in high Rpm´s, I changed the oil and the sound has diminished.
Think I will choose option 2 "Power Transmission"

I have the same problem with my box and have decided to go with Cobra as they supply Jap -Nachie Bearings which are fine . As for warranty on used boxs , who in their right mind wants to pull an unserviceable unit and then refit another unknown but "warranted " box . Do your own bearings and be happy with the results

Look up "reverse lockout problem" for the Miata 5 speed transmission. I'm not saying that is the problem, but its something to look into. It may be easier to fix than you might think.

As some of the shipping prices in or out of the US are over the top it sometimes is a cost saving to go through an on forwarder like Shipito . I can save by having the seller ship to this or a similar company and then have the items reshipped to me . Come and visit your friends here and we have lots of mx5's . cheers Max
