^^Lol. FM Classics are $715- got to figure building your own bilsteins and ebay setup you'll pay probably over $100 in just shipping all the different components etc. And what is your time worth? ah **** it this is MT.net if you can waste 10 hours to save $50 and have a shittier product, it's probably worth it.

I also sold my FM Vmaxx for $400. So there's that.

I think going from FM Sways and Vmaxx classic with track springs (not recommended) to Xida with 800/500 springs and 949 sways I cut maybe 1-2 seconds off laptimes.

Here's the cost of my Bilstein coilover setup. And I did not go the full cheapo route, I got decent sleeves and blingy extended tophats.

And that's not including selling off the Eibach springs that came with my MSM Bilsteins...so figure $50ish less.

$75 once I sell the Eibachs. I just checked, there's $16 in shipping I didn't include in the sheet (everything from Summit is free shipping), so call it a $59 savings to have Bilstein shocks instead of VMaxx. Worth it to me.

EDIT: Also will end up with a pair of unused NB tophats, actually. $30 more if I sell those. $89 savings.

How long are V-Maxx lasting with track use before the shocks are dead? Are they rebuildable at that point, or are you out another $715?

Instead of finding the peasant DIY coilover thread i'll ask here.
Anyone running stock valved Bilsteins from the R package cars on your DIY setups?

I'm running the adjustable Vmax and I'm impressed for the price. I got a good alignment and spent some time playing with the ride height and stiffness to balance the car out. I've put about 8k miles and 5 track days on them, and I don't experience any of the under/over steer issues described earlier. My car is a full budget build, so spending an extra $900 for Xidas just didn't make any sense for me.

If I did it again, I'd probably try the budget bilstein route just for fun, but I'd happily buy Vmaxx again for a budget setup.

We recently lowered the price of Xidas a few hundred bucks. Major changes in the supply chain, a few redesigned parts allow us to pass the savings on. The last 10 or so kits ordered just before price change all received a nice refund.

Bare bones kit with springs and no upper mounts is now $1699.

Just sayin'
