Im thinking of ordering TR Motorsport wheels for my Miata, My questions are.. Tirerack offers several offsets and widths for the same wheel to fit the Miata, which is the best setup? I plan on lowering the car about an inch maybe a little more, and I dont want to have to modify the fenders when I do. Does anyone know if a 15X8 et20 will require modification with a 205/50/15 tire? Or should I get the 15X7 et30 to be safe?

Not totally sure on NA car, but I run the 15x9 (36mm offset) w/ 225/45 rs3s on stock suspension - 01 w/ sports soft suspension
When I bought them I got this warning:


I'd just say, get what you really want and plan to get coilovers as well. I'm sure your stock suspension is worn out...

Go with the 30 offset, I just put the 15x8 et20 with 225/50/15 tires on my na and at stock height it would rub on hard bumps and once lowered it took major fender pull and still rub pulling into driveways and such.

That's because you have the wrong tire size. 225/50/15 isn't supposed to be used, 225/45 is. That's a good .4" too big (radius). Had some myself, required me to have only about .5-1" drop from stock, no fender liners, a minor roll, and this was all with 1.7cm less offset (et37).

there is nothing wrong with running the 225/50 yes its taller but it has its pros and cons,

In my case the taller tire actually helps since my car has a 4.3 rear gear, and since I daily drive my car I couldnt justify the cost of the RS3 over the AST, when you consider tread wear.

Now if I were to have ran the 15x7 30offset vs my 15x8 20 offset that alone is 10mm of clearance and with that I would probably be able to rub the tire on the tub befor rubbing fender after a minor roll.

Now your 37 offset wheels at 17mm further in then I have and would offer much much better clearance but I planned to roll and pull fenders anyway.

I along with at least 3 other other members I know have the TR wheels and have no issues with them. There may be some facts about these wheels vs 6uls on a strictly track car that I'm not considering, but for a street/occasional event car I think they are great. I was really stuck on 6uls for some time before deciding to go with the TRs, but in the end I didn't feel the much higher price was justified. Nor was I interested in the very long wait I would have had to go through in order to actually get them.

Yeah I run C3M's. I rolled my rear fenders because I am running shitty soft FM springs.

I love the 6UL's, but I was looking for something a bit lower cost and less cookie cutter. The 6ul's are AMAZING (and Emilio it is pretty shitty that Tire Rack literally took your documentation), but I get sick of seeing them on every single miata.

Justification is that the TR's are just a direct knockoff of a quality wheel. Easier to be cheaper when you have no engineering/design cost. Sorry (well. no I'm not) but there is some brand loyalty around here.

I would have to stop and count how many sets of 6ULs we have in the shop. Not sure it would fit on two hands. It's about to go up by 2 when the 10s arrive.

For me, it's not only a brand loyalty issue, it's a morality issue.

I ended up ordering the C1M's 15X7 et30 specifically made for the Miata so I'd be safe in what ever suspension modifications I choose. As for them being a knock off, I could care less. They are cheap, nice looking, and are backed by a company with amazing customer service. If you think about the wheels that most Miata owners purchase, they are typically knockoffs of a more expensive wheel. Who wants to spend $2500 on wheels and tires for a car that isnt worth $2500?? LOL Thanks for the advice folks!

well it's actually only $1150 for 15x9 6uls and 225 rs3s. That's pretty damn good for wheels that are a total of 12.x pounds lighter and stronger than the knockoffs. The extra price is definitely worth it, and they look exactly the same, less plasticy looking and only ~$80 more a wheel. Expensive yes, but worth it.

The 6UL is not the most glorious looking wheel (I own 8) but the TR1s are absolutely ******* ugly. Look at 18psi's car. I mean the car he sold. Barf.

I really like the style of the C3M's but I would prefer if they offered 8's like the C1M. I really like the 9" wheels but I don't want to be stuck to the 225 tires because of the few choices.
