you know it would be interesting to do a study on this to see if there is a certain year or option that does this, I have a 93, w/ first get 15x9 6uls, depowered steering rack and have no rubbing issue.

They don't fit. 225/50s rub everything in the front on an NA at any reasonable ride height (~12"). My 225/45s already brush the tops of the fenders and rub the shock towers under hard cornering.

My 225 45's rub the shock towers as well but net enough to be concerned with, but the wheels don't rub the control arms.

Yep. 225/45s rub stuff but not enough for me to do anything about it - I never hear anything rub, I just get little rubber marks on the shock towers and the tops of the fenders. As for them rubbing the UCA, you just learn to not use full lock with 225s, since the big tire will rub an oversized/aftermarket FSB no matter what. One turn, plus a quarter, and stop - you can turn a Miata around pretty much anywhere with just that.

Thesnowboarder ran a set of 225/50 street tires for a day or two - they rubbed EVERYTHING. Too tall for the car.

I have a NB with 225/50 RS2s all around.

The front rubs quite a bit under hard cornering

rears and front had to take out fender liners

need a fender roll front/back. may be able to get away without it but it will still rub.

Plus in even tighter quarters you can simply do a "Formula 1 U-turn".

I'm having a hard time passing these up because they are so cheap. I want to run them, and when they wear out I'll go to a 225/45/15 R6 or something.

I PM'd him and he said he had to raise the car a bit but he has no rubbing with rolled fenders.

I ran 225/50 V710's on Gen 1 15x8's on the NA a few years ago. They're fatter than most 225/50's. Had to flat roll front and rear. Touched tub on top of tread, shock tower bulge and sway bar. Guessing there might be contact on fender lip with 9's. For a track fitment, I'd say run it. If it ain't rubbin, your wheels are too small. Hmm, that'd make a good T-Shirt slogan

Just make sure they're not rocks. Two ads in the back of GRM and Sportscar, both of which I've gotten great deals on fresh tires from. A durometer is useful tool for any racer.

I have a durometer. I'll be checking them when I get them. They are older tires, but they have been sitting in Kuhmo's local warehouse, not in someones garage so they 'should' be fine. If they are rocks, I am going to pass on them.

Emilio, we're running a 195/60-14 Dunlop Direzza on our Chump Car Daisy wheels. This past weekend we were turning 1:31s at Roebling Road. What's a wild azz guess that 205/50-15 on a 15x8 would pick up? 1 second? More? We don't have the fastest car at each race but so far we've had podiums in our first 3 and are looking for ways to have a little more car.
