DD tires for approx 20k miles yr and light autox.
I am hoping you all can give me some input. I searched but I haven't found answer that was close enough to my situation.
I am running 3 year old 400 treadwear all seasons right now and I feel it is really holding me back in autox. I plan on upgrading next year to 6ULs with RS3s, but I am interested in what you all think I should use for the remainder of the year as a combination daily driver tire and track tire.
I daily drive my Miata about 20k miles a year, and I hope to have my tires last at least one full year. Here are the basics:
Car is 2001 LS (Hard S), Naturally Aspirated.
The wheels are 16x6.5"
Star Specs run 205/50-16
Kuhmo Ecsta XS run 215/45-16
The Kuhmos specify a 7-8" range for wheel width.
The Star Specs are a half inch taller than the Kuhmos.
I also am not opposed to running an Toyo Proxes R1R in 205/45-16.
Which do you think would be an overall better tire for my use?
Alternatively, there are some BFGoodrich Comp-2s that are an exact fit for the OEM tire at 205/45-16, but they are a 320 treadwear tire.
What do you all say?
