Where have you been, if this goes how the world normally works we'll buy all these tires, maxxis will go "hmm why arent these on the shelf anymore, I guess we should stop selling them since we cant keep them in stock." and then no one else will sell the size and we'll all get pissed off because idiots that run things always seem to get the wrong signals. This is the same effect that makes the yogurt flavors you really like and always seem sold out at your supermarket get replaced with flavors no one likes.

I'm still waiting to see if they outperform narrower re-71r tires...

245 vs 205. Both top level 200tw. I seriously doubt they will outperform. Either way they will last significantly longer.

Here's someone's first impressions - sounds like it's more towards the RS3 / starspec 2 / AD08R than a RE71R or RivalS for a given size: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2600507

Disclaimer - found via google, no idea how reliable or applicable to our sizes this person's views are.

Mike is one of the drivers Maxxis has used for early development testing, like myself. You will notice he did not provide a lick of data. I would wait for the conclusive GRM test by Hollis et al before drawing any final conclusions

225 Rival S is the current king of the crop. Slightly faster than the stickier 205 RE71R, but only by maybe 0.3-0.5sec/lap (2min course). The problem with both of those tires is that they wear like sticky race slicks. I got ~5k miles and 3 track days from my 225 RivalS. They might be good for another 2-3 dry sessions but they are useless in the rain now.

I agonized a bit over what to do on my street car, knowing the VR-1 will likely be a little slower than the narrower RivalS/RE71R. Finally decided that if the 245/40 VR-1 comes within 0.5sec of the RivalS, but lasts 3-4x as long, then it's a win in my book. Hopefully I'm wrong and the width bridges the time gap entirely.

Is Cheng Shin/Maxxis in the RMA pool of reporting companies?

I'm certainly doing my part to pump up the opportunity to the right people.

Not too long ago 225/45-15 in a 200tw was considered niche...sure wish Bridgestone thought otherwise.

This tire is looking like it can not only fill a new size in the market, but also become another go-to model. I'm excited to see some data with reviews!

I'm having a hard time justifying them for my street tires over a 225 V720, though. I run 15x9s and my TTE car only makes ~135rwhp. I suppose they would probably last longer and I don't really care about raw speed. They would just be my HPDE ride along and mountain/street tire.

Just got them mounted on my 15x10's. Also included a picture of them next to 275/35/15 hoosiers on a 15x11

From what I've heard, the V720 is noisy on the road and highly prone to tread chunking on track. Avoid.

I know that it isnt optimal... But I just painted my car and im not ready to cut it up just yet. Anyone have any idea of how a 245x9 combo would fit on an NA? My fenders are pretty heavily pulled.

Better yet. Any pictures of that setup with the RC-1?

I believe this picture is 245 Maxxis on 15x9. Back fenders are rolled with maybe a tiny pull, front fenders are rolled and pulled.
