LOL I saw that. I wonder why there is not more info listed? Is it discontinued or soon to be released?

Stuffing that 275 is going to enough of a challenge with 10.7" thread and 11.4" section width. I can't imagine what that 290 will be like.

Looks like we are finally seeing tires that will take big HP Miatas to the next level.

Looked over that list and found a few tires that would be of interest to me if they would offer SCCA contingency

I think with this set up and if it were offered in a DOT type tire the Miata's biggest issue in SSM would be taken care of.

Avon doesn't even sell these tires in the US. Contingency is a pipe dream.

I am going to try to import a set of 290/570R15s.

There are quite a few SCCA drivers in Lincoln this weekend on Avon tires. They are a common site in the Prepared and Modified classes. So they must not be impossible to get.

Roger Kraus is who I called to get more details. I guess they were pretty jammed up Friday cause I never heard back. Bummer no contingency program. Can't wait to see what Sav's machine can do with some 290's. Being able to finally harness all of that power will yield some interesting times. Guess I gotta get that built motor installed.

Striking out on answers guys. None of the dealers in the states know anything about them. They are all willing to import a set. 3-4 month lead time and 50% deposit.

Those dont look like rain tires to me. I think thats the real killer, you can make a miata beat the rx7's with the current tires in the dry. But if it rains and we have to run 225 H2O's there just no chance.

Have you seen or driven on the new H2O wet? I'm not sure why you think it is a disadvantage.

Here is the 225 H2O beside a 275 A6


And here the 225 H20's are on 9" wheels and the 275's are on 10" wheels


Considering that in standing water conditions a slightly narrower tire than what you run in the dry it typical I think the new 225 H20 wet is a game changer. Especially on a car with ABS and Race Logic Traction Control.
