Well - maybe I missed something, but noticed TireRack's ad in the latest issue of GRM that Hoosier was producing a 245/50 R6. Cool, But who the hell is going to run a 24.8" R6?? Dammit... LINK

Gonna have to stick with the 580s for now as I can't get Continental take-offs any more in 225/45 - RSR isn't rocking the mini's any more in Grand-Am, starting next year. And there is no other team running them.

The thing is that you need a ton of aero to get the R6 up to temp. Was running A6 for time attack last year in 275 and tried R6 in the same size this year WRONG with my wing only car as I had no point left for splitter and aero goodies. RS3 we're almost quicker than those 120-140F R6.

245/50 is pretty odd, almost 25" is HUGE to say the least.

Did you try the american racer 275 slick from another thread here. They're 23.8" wich isn't bad.

Waiting for the time attack rule's for next year but I need to start working now...

Sure thing, I speak from my experience here in Canada where the weather is colder then south US for sure. It was 13-17 C yesterday at Calabogie Motorsport Park in Ontario. Few friends with MR-S (2100lbs) and Miata weren't able to heat those up.

is R6 really need that much heat?? A6(225/45/15) tend to over heat after 2-3hot lap for a 2200lbs(w/ driver) & 200whp car.

I have a set or two of the 225/15 Contis stashed away if you're interested. They are not getting any newer but I will sell them to you cheap if you want.

Also, general question, what cars use this stupid size? 245/50/15? I can't think of the target market for this size. Cars that come with 16" wheels stock or something?

Thanks Luke, but I've still got 3 sets of take-offs (one set like new). I might try calling RSR and see if they can bring some when they come back to Barber this fall for testing - I'm probably going to rock the 580s or drop back down to NT01s - it all depends on what I can afford after getting the car back together.
