I hit the point of frustration with my installation of a MS1 V3.0 into a 1997 (OBD-II) parallel installation and set it aside. Now, I really have to get it going. I have read everything I can find. I tested everything I can think of. I have double--triple checked my build and harness. I'm stuck and I'll pay to get unstuck.

If you are in Jacksonville, FL and have any experience, how about $100 for a day of helping me troubleshoot? If I can't get any local help, I am open to drive to Atlanta, GA on November 14-15. For someone who understands this stuff, this could be some easy Christmas cash.

Please respond only if you truly understand MS. The prospect of burning up an expensive coilpack 400 miles from home doesn't sound good to me. Even if we don't figure out anything else, I at least need to be able to drive back on the stock ECU.

This MS is going into a car with an otherwise stock 1997 engine. An LC-1 has been installed and does work, but has no connection to the stock ECU. The IAT sensor has been installed.

+1. We will do our best to help you out man. Post up your msq that you are running and we'll go through it and see if there's any software issue that would keep it from running. Post everything you know, what you have tested, etc. Do you have a stimulator? Do you get an RPM reading in megatune?

Saml01/patsmx5, thanks for the quick replies. I'll put together a list of what I know and post it in the Megasquirt forum as not many will find this in the WTB section.

To get this started, I'll briefly explain what I know:

Everything seems to work great on the stim. The guages all move when I turn the *****. I lost the ability to control the coolant input from the stim when I did the mod for the parallel install, but it was working before that. From what I read, that is expected. Otherwise, I think it is all great on the stim.

I know that I had a lot of trouble building the parallel harness, much more trouble than I should have had. I built the entire thing backwards and had to scrap it and start over. I posted a thread to get some help and I'm pretty sure I ended with everyone's approval. That old thread is https://www.miataturbo.net/forum/t25529/

The only other area I could have really bungled was loading the msq. I used the MSPNP msq for the 96/97 cars without any changes except enabling the LC-1. When I try to start the car, I get nothing but cranking. I am really nervous about burning up those coilpacks that I didn't try it too many times.

I'm in a bit of a time crunch. My wife is coming back from Tokyo for Christmas and I'd like to convince her that I haven't been sitting around for five months.

You cant bungle loading the msq, only burning the firmware. if the MSQ burns without errors you are fine.

Do all your gauges work when plugged into the car? Do you see cranking?

My car fired up the first time on the mspnp 96/97 msq, so the msq shouldnt be your problem if you hooked everything up right and setup your easytherm values correctly when you initially burned the firmware.

Also, remember the mspnp 96/97 firmware is for Hi Res, I hope you are using HI Res firmware on the MS.
