Default A/C Evaporator Box Thermoswitch

I need a new thermoswitch on my evaporator box. It constantly cycles, which doesn't make idle fun. It's supossed to turn off compressor when under 32*F inside the evaporator box, but mine constantly turns on and off in like 1 minute intervals. This make it not fun when coming to a stop and the a/c decided to turn on just as my rpms are dropping.

It's bolted to the left side of the box just behind the glovebox with two screws...has two green wires pluging in and a long copper probe that enters the evaporator box.

Did you put a voltmeter across it while it's turning on and off to make sure it is what is causing the cutouts, and not the pressure switch(es)?

I manually bypassed it this morning and it's perfect.

Hopefully this doesn't happen to you! It will block all air flow and crack the evap (both are Duh statements though)

id rather that happen then it shutting off and turning on every 30 seconds...there's no way a car at 80*F ambient, needs the compressor to "defrost" after 15 seconds of use.

so that's temp solution, hence why i want a new one!

Beings that you build the MS systems, could you build an on/off switch for it that runs off IAT's? Anything sub 60 and it gets shut off? As long as you have a decent cool box for the intake, it should be close to ambient. It can be one more option added to the MS for guys with AC.

I couldn't but it's metering the temps in the evaporator..id rather just get a dummy switch that operated correctly.

I normally sell the entire evap unit but for the same nominal price I will cannibalize one if needed.
