Have you tried contacting any of the salvage yards that focus on Miata parts? I doubt there are many people that have an extra lying around.
I watched and waited a LONG time and finally won a used one off eBay for $35-40 shipped. Then I bought a third key, had it cut, and I programmed both to the car just in case one of mine disappears. My brother thought it was a waste of money but even though I tried to explain it to him, he doesn't understand that once you lose one of the two keys, you're stuck paying the dealer ($200-250 in the estimates I've read about) to program a new, second key to work with the immobilizer. I now have a third key/remote set waiting in my junk drawer. Better to pay $100-125 now then $250-300+ later.
I'm sure the remote will be easy to sell if/when I sell the car!

IIRC the key I have (even with the car having immobilizer) isn't chipped.
Programming the remote is pretty easy, OTOH. Mazmart has one, and I think Parts Group has another. Might buy those if no one has an extra (you never know given the people that buy and part out cars on here).

We did that with your remote when the engine went it. It was something to do with locking the doors ten times and opening and closing the door or something. Sounded like an OCD engineer programmed it.

Could you re-use one from my Mazdaspeed?
I wanted to transfer it to the 10AE but I'm not sure how difficult that is, and I was thinking about it, and I really don't think I need power locks on the 10AE. ha.
